Dadamben Gets Pucca House as part of VSSM Flood Rehabilitation Programme

We encountered Painful memories of bitter experiences  in the past. Memories that left us heavy hearted and teary eyed. The Banaskantha floods of 2017 had  brought extreme pain in lives of many nomadic families. It continues to remains such a  tragic event of their lives, memories of which they would want to erase forever.

The Devipujak families of Patni Odha, a hamlet of Khariya village earned their living by farming small plots of land they had. But the floods swept away everything they owned. Almost 50 families lost their pucca homes while some were rendered inhabitable. The flood waters gushed unannounced living them no time to rescue their cattle that was tied to trees and hooks.  

I distinctly remember meeting Dadamben during my immediate visit  to the flood affected areas. “How will we ever manage to overcome this calamity,” she recounted the deadly floods  with tears in her eyes.

Organisationally, we were not prepared to meet such unprecedented demands of relief and rehabilitation. We knew these families were helpless and needed our support. VSSM appealed for help to its friends and well-wishers and as expected we received overwhelming support. The contributions helped us rehabilitate 219 families whose homes were completely destroyed in the floods. Each family received support of Rs. 50,000 to 70,000 while they also poured their hard work to rebuild their homes, their lives.

A rather upbeat and cheerful Dadamben welcomed us to her new home, her current mood quite different from the one that flashed back after meeting her. It was an experience to catch up with her and other families, sitting in the veranda of the brand new homes build from the support we received from you all. The families needed a lot of moral support, the team members  of VSSM  Naran, Ishwar and the youth of Patni Odha proved to be pillars of strength for these families.

ગુજરાતીમાં અનુવાદ

દરેકના જીવનમાં એવી કેટલીયે વાતો હોય છે જેને યાદ કરતા આંખ ભીની થઈ જાય. કાશ કમ્પ્યુટરની જેમ જીંદગીમાં પણ એક ડીલીટ બટન હોય તો કેવું સારુ થાત. 

2017માં બનાસકાંઠામાં પુર આવ્યું ને કેટલાયના જીવનમાં ઊથલ પાથલ કરી નાખી.

ખારિયાના પરા પટણીઓઢામાં દેવીપૂજક પરીવારો રહે. ખેતીવાડીની આછી પાતળી જમીન ને કાંઈક મહેનત કરીને આ પરિવારોએ બનાવેલા ઘરો. 

પણ પુરમાં બધુ તારાજ થઈ ગયું. 50 ઉપરાંત પરિવારોના પાકા ઘર જમીનદોસ્ત થઈ ગયા. તો ક્યાંક સાવ જર્જરીત થઈ ગયા. પુરનું પાણી ચોમેર ફરી વળતા ઘણા પરિવારો તો ખીલેબાંધેલા ઢોરેય છોડી નહોતા શક્યા.

પટણીઓઢામાં રહેતા દાડમ બહેનને એ વખતે મળેલી. વાત કરતા કરતા જ રડી પડેલા. કેમના બેઠા થઈશું તેવું તેમણે કહેલું...

અમારાથી શું થઈ શકશે તેની અમનેય ખબર નહોતી પણ આફતમાં આવી પડેલાં આપણા સ્નેહીજનોની પડખે ઊભા રહેવાનું તો કરવાનું હતું. 

અમારી સાથે સંકળાયેલા પ્રિયજનોને મદદ માટે અપીલ કરીને સૌએ થાય તે મદદ કરીને જુઓ દાડમબહેન જેવા 219 પરિવારોના ઘરો ફેર ઊભા થઈ ગયા. પ્રત્યેક પરિવારને 50,000 થી લઈને 70,000 સુધીની મદદ કરી. આ પરિવારોએ પણ મહેનત કરીને ઘર બાંધકામમાં પૈસા જોડ્યા ને રૃડા ઘરો ઊભા થયા.

દાડમ બહેનને પુર પછીના દિવસોમાં મળેલી ત્યારે તેમણે પુરમાં જર્જરીત થયેલું તેમનું ઘર બતાવેલું તેઓ સખત હતાશ જણાતા હતા. પણ હમણાં તેમના ઘરે જવાનું થયું ત્યારે સ્નેહીજનોની મદદથી VSSM દ્વારા બંધાયેલું ઘર જોયું ને એના ઓટલે હુંયે બેસી. 

ક્યાં હતાશ દાડમ બહેન ક્યાં અત્યારના મોંઢા પર હાસ્ય સાથે જીંદગી ફેર શરૃ કરેલા દાડમ બહેન.... 

VSSMના સંવેદનશીલ કાર્યકર નારણ, ઈશ્વર અને પટણી ઓઢા વસાહતના યુવાન આગેવાન પ્રવિણની આભારી છું. આ લોકો જ હતા જે સતત આ પરિવારોની સાથે રહ્યા ને હિંમત આપી.

સૌથી મોટો આભાર આ પરિવારોને ઘર બાંધી આપવામાં મદદરૃપ થનાર પ્રિયજનોનો. એમની મદદ મળી ના હોત આ બધુંએ થવું અશક્ય છે.

Ishwarbhai Bharathri living in Dhanera, his whole house was filled with mud because of floods. (which you can see in a picture) House wasn’t that strong to sustain against flood water. That’s why water found its way from where ever it could and whole house was destroyed.

After so many years of hard work this brick-mud house could be built and this floods came…all their household things went away with water. He took his family and cows and went far away as he wasn’t left with any hopes that new house will be build.

The current living condition of nomads

ધાનેરામાં રહેતા ઈશ્વરભાઈ #ભરથરીનું આખુ ઘર પુરમાં કીચડથી ભરાઈ ગયેલું.(જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે) ઘરની એવી ક્યાં મજબૂતી હતી તે એ આવા પાણી સામે ટકે? એટલે પાણીને જ્યાંથી જગ્યા મળી ત્યાંથી એણે રસ્તો શોધી લીધો ને આખુ ઘર ફોટોમા દેખાય છે એ રીતે તુટી ગયું.

કેટલા વર્ષોની મહેનત પછી ઈંટ માટીથી આ ઘર ઊભુ થયું ને આ પૂરે....બધો સામાનેય એ વખતે તણાઈ ગયેલો. બાલબચ્ચાને લઈને ઢોર માથે જતા રહેલા ઈશ્વરભાઈને નવું ઘર બનશે તેવી આશ જ નહોતી.

પણ સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા શુભેચ્છક સ્વજનોની મદદ તેમનું ઘર બંધાવવાનું શરૃ થયું જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે...

The current living condition of Ravaba Raval

From many years Ravaba Raval and his wife lives in Khimana village in their small shanty. Ravaba would be approximately 70 years old. His wife would be of the same age. They spent their whole life as daily wage labourer. They had grown up their sons and got them married. However, by the time their son’s families were growing, they chose to move to other shanty and even moved to cities for work. At this age, Ravaba and his wife both have to do labour work and that’s how they spend their life. 


‘Whole life we were struggling for having our own pucca house, but if our poverty leads us every day by not even able to have a single meal, how can we even think of having pucca house?
Our field worker Naranbhai was aware of this situation. He went to meet Ravaba and he had tears in his eyes by listening to Ravaba’s situation.

Winter and summer used to pass by but in monsoon time, when roof is filled with rain water, he had to survive by covering with umbrella or a plastic on his head. Such a tough life!

In that too, when floods came it shattered the mud-clay wall of their house. They had no hope to have own pucca house.

Plot was given to him, but he didn’t receive any help for house. For which Naranbhai had applied months ago but our system…

On one hand the fund earmarked for housing, is not being used and on other hand, a man who desires to stay in his pucca house before he dies, is not getting any help.
At present, with the help of well-wishers, we have helped him by giving Rs. 50,000 and construction of his house has begun. With that, we have even applied to Social Welfare Department asking for quick help.
When we were leaving, Ravaba expressed his gratitude by, ‘Thank you so much for helping to build our house.’
We couldn’t meet Ravaba’s wife, she had gone to do labour work at that time. How can such physically weak people manage to work at this old age? By thinking that I feel sorry.

રવાબા #રાવળ અને એમના પત્ની #ખીમાણા ગામમાં વર્ષોથી છાપરું બાંધીને રહે. રવાબાની ઉંમર સેહેજેય 70 ઉપરની હશે. એમના પત્નીની પણ એજ ઉંમર. મજૂરી કરી જીવન ગુજારે. દીકરા ખરા એમને મોટા કરી પરણાવ્યાં. પણ દીકરાઓનો સંસાર મોટો થતા એમણે અલગ છાપરાં વળ્યાં ને કામ માટે બહારની વાટ પણ પકડી. રવાબા ને એમના પત્ની આ ઉંમરે મહેનત કરે ને જીવે.

આખી જિંદગી પાકું ઘર મળે એ માટે મહેનત કરી પણ રોજ તાવડી તડાકા લેતી હોય ત્યાં ઘર તો કેમ થાય?

નારણ અમારા કાર્યકરના ધ્યાને આ વાત આવી. એ રવાબા ને મળવા ગયો ને રવાબાએ જે કહ્યું એ સાંભળીને આંખ ભીની થઇ ગઈ.

શિયાળો, ઉનાળો તો નીકળી જતો પણ ચોમાસામાં છાપરામાં પાણી પડે એટલે ખાટલા માથે છત્રી કે મિણીયુ ઓઢી બેસી રહે. કેવું મુશ્કેલ જીવન.

એમાં પૂરમાં ગાર માટીમાંથી બનાવેલી છાપરાની દીવાલ પડી ગઈ. ઘરની આશ હવે રહી નહોતી.

પ્લોટ એમને ફળવાયો હતો પણ મકાન સહાય મળી નહોતી. જે માટે મહિનાઓ પહેલા નારણે અરજી કરી પણ તંત્ર... 

એક બાજુ ફળવાયેલા પૈસા વપરાતા નથી ને બીજી બાજુ જેને મરતા પહેલા એકવાર પોતાના અને એય પાકા ઘરમાં રહેવાની હોંશ છે એને સહાય આપતા નથી. 

અમે હાલ તો સૌ શુભેચ્છક સ્વજનોની મદદથી 50,000 ની સહાય આપી ઘર શરુ કરાવી દીધું છે સાથે સમાજ કલ્યાણમાં પણ ઝટ મકાન સહાય આપે એની રજૂઆત કરી છે. 

'ઘર બનાબ્બમાં મદદ કરી તમારો ખુબ ઓભાર.' એવું રવાબા ને મળીને નીકળતા એમણે કહ્યું. 

રવાબા ના પત્ની ના મળ્યા એ મજૂરીયે ગયા હતા. આવા અશક્ત માણસો કેવી રીતે કામ કરતા હશે? એ વિચારીનેય જીવ બળી ગયો.

‘We have been wandering since ages, I swear to God, I have no idea since how many years I have been living here in Dhanera. When I was brought here, there were only a railway station, a fenced field and few farmers were living here. Nothing else was there in Dhanera. We didn’t have our own house, we used to live in a small hut. Since last 10 years we had this brick-mud house and that too was destroyed by flood waters. Nothing was left.’

DivaMa Bharathri lives in Dhanera. After a lot of struggle this kachcha house was built and it shattered in this floods. Whatever they had, to make that even it took years and now making all new again on their own seems very difficult.

We are helping to the families of Bajaniya, Bharathri, and Vansfodavadi commuinties, whose houses were destroyed in floods. The help of Rs. 50,000 was given to each family. So DivaMa also received help of Rs. 50,000 to build her house.

Three days back, I went to Dhanera to see construction process of Diva ma’s house and others as well. I asked Diva ma, ’Your house is being made, are you liking it?’

‘Yes of course, who would not like it. We are really happy seeing that’

By listening this words of Diva ma, Mukeshbhai standing near to me said, ‘Ben, Diva ma gave this house to her brother-in-law’s son.  All money you gave, that too she gave it to him. Hence Diva ma is still deprived of having her own house.’

‘Why is so? We gave money to build your own house and you gave that to someone else. This doesn’t seem alright.’

‘Ben, he doesn’t have a place to stay. He is a son of my brother-in-law. His parents are no more, hence I have brought him up like my own son. He was also wandering without own house like me.  

His shanty was shattered in floods. We wanted to submit his application to organisation too but Maheshbhai said that organisation is out of money so we couldn’t proceed. But I that, ‘My house will be made and his won’t, then I would feel myself selfish, so I gave this house to him.’

By reading this you will be proud of Diva ma, Right?

These people are financially poor but morally very high and rich. Diva ma has her own one son; with whom she is staying right now under one roof. She didn’t think of even having this house for her own son. From my perspective she is a real guardian.

When she was asked in a video about, ‘How happy she is, by looking at her house being built,’ then she even said, she is very happy. If you will see video, you won’t even realise, that her house is not being made but it’s for her nephew. But her joy was so pure, as if her own house is being built. 

She cared more for others then her own self. This is truly her mightiness, we salute to her generosity and selflessness. 

'અમે તો પેલ્લેથી રખડતા ભગવોનની સોગન મન કોય ખાત્રી જ નહીં ક ચેટલા વરહથી ઓય (ધાનેરામાં) રેતી. ધોનેરામાં એક રેલવે ટેશન હતું એ વખતે મન ઓય લાયેલી બીજુ કશુય નતું. એક વોરવાડ હતી, એક કણબીઓ રેતાતા. બીજુ કોય નતું. અમારુ ઘરબર કોય નતું. ઝૂંપડાંમોં રેતાતા. દોહ (દસ) વરહથી ઈંટાળા માંડ્યોતા તે આ પોણી આયું તે ઈટાળાનય લઈ જ્યું હોમું ન હોમું. કોય ના રાસ્યુ.’

દીવા મા ભરથરી ધાનેરામાં રહે. પુરમાં માંડ માંડ ઈંટ માટીથી બનાવેલું ઘર સાવ જમીનદોસ્ત થઈ ગયું. જેટલું બનાવ્યું હતું એ બનાવતાય વર્ષો નીકળી ગયા હતા ત્યાં નવેસરથી પોતાનીરીતે બનાવવું તો અઘરુ હતું.

અમે ધાનેરામાં રહેતા અને જેમના ઘરો પુરના કારણે રહેવા લાયક નથી તેવા બજાણિયા, ભરથરી અને વાંસફોડાવાદી પરિવારોના ઘરો બનાવવામાં 50,000ની ઘરદીઠ મદદ કરી રહ્યા છીએ. દીવામાને પણ એમનું ઘર બનાવવા 50,000ની મદદ કરી.

ત્રણ દિવસ પહેલાં ધાનેરા ગઈ ત્યારે દીવામાનું ને અન્યોના ઘરોનું બાંધકામ કેવું ચાલે છે તે જોવા ગઈ. દીવા માને પુછ્યું, ‘ઘર બની રહ્યું છે તે ગમે છે?’

‘હોવ કુન ના ગમ. અસલ બહુ રાજી બેન.’

દિવામા ના આ શબ્દો સાંભળી બાજુમાં ઊભેલા મુકેશભાઈએ કહ્યું, ‘બેન દિવામાએ આ ઘર એમના જેઠના છોકરાંને આપી દીધુ છે.તમે આપેલા પૈસા પણ એમણે એને આપ્યા. એટલે દિવા માનું ઘર નથી થયું.’

‘અરે એમ કેમ? અમે તો તમારા ઘર માટે તમને પૈસા આપ્યા હતા અને તમે આમ બીજાને આપી દો એ ના ચાલે.’

‘પણ બેન એની પાહે રેવા જેવું કોય નતું. મારા જેઠનો સોકરો હ. મા- બાપ કોય નતા એટલ પેલણથી મારી કને મારા સોકરાં ઘોડે જ મોટો થ્યો હ. એય ઘર વગરનો રખડ ન મુએ રખડું. ઈનીએ ઓયડી પડી જી પુરમોં. ઈનુંય ફોરમ તમારી કને મુચવુંતું પણ મહેશભઈ(સંસ્થાના કાર્યકર) એ કીધુ ક પૈસા પતી જ્યાં એટલ રેવા દીધું. પણ મન ઝપ ના વળી. મારુ ઘર થાય ન ઈનું ના થાય તો મુ સ્વારથી કેવઉં એટલ આ ઘર ઈન આલી દીધુ.’

બોલો વાંચીન દીવા મા પ્રત્યે માન વધી જાય ને?

આ માણસો આર્થિક રીતે ગરીબ પણ એની અમીરી અને સમજણ ભલભલાને આંટી દે એવી. પાછા આ દિવામાને એક દીકરો છે જેની સાથે એ છાપરાંમાં રહે છે. પોતાના દીકરા માટેઆ ઘર એવો વિચારેય દિવામાને ના આવ્યો. મારી દૃષ્ટિએ આજ ખરા પાલક કહેવાય. 

વળી પાછુ ઘર મળ્યા પછી હરખ છે એવું મે પુછ્યું તો ખુબ રાજી એવી વાત એમણે વિડીયોમાં કરી. વિડીયો જોશો તો ખ્યાલ પણ નહીં આવે કે દિવામાનું ઘર નથી થઈ રહ્યું ઘર તો તેમના ભત્રીજાનું થઈ રહ્યું છે. પણ હરખ પોતાનું જ ઘર થયું હોય એવો એમને છે. 

પોતાના જણ્યાની ચિંતા કરવાની જગ્યાએ પારકાની ચિંતા એમણે કરી. ખરે જ આ એમની મોટાઈ ને તેમની આ મોટાઈ ને સમજણને અમારા પ્રણામ.

‘This flood fulfilled my desire.

I am saying this wholeheartedly. Otherwise It would have been mountain of debt on me. 7000 I took for my mother’s post cremation rituals (last rites ceremony). From that when it turned to Rs. 70,000, I didn’t even realise. To get free from debt I decided to put myself on mortgage.  But there was grief because I didn’t want to leave my village.

A night before floods, I was sitting in front of Mataji (goddess) and I had tears in my eyes that time. I said by praying that “Ma, I don’t want to leave my village.” I had lost hopes. I had to leave next morning and everything was packed. And Ben, on the next day, flood came. Roof and our all household things were washed away.

We had to live in a school, and mentally I had lost myself. But that time you and Naranbhai came. You took care of us, and my situation changed to better. Dear Ma (Dear goddess) listened to my request.

You made us free from debt and see now pakka house we could build too.

This ‘Govo’ is now turned into ‘Govind’, Ben!

I want to do Mataji’s chanting and you will also have to come Ben. After you come then only I am going to start living in that house."

‘Govind, don’t waste your money by doing this ritual’ when I said this to Govind, he agreed to that. Don’t see this as criticism but as faith Govind and many more people like him have.  And I strongly believe that human being's hard work and faith ultimately help in survival.
In Totana, apart from Govind Bajaniya, there are many more houses being built by VSSM with the help of our well-wishers.  We thank you all our dear ones who helped us in this task…

‘આ પુર મન ફળ્યું.

લો હાવ હાચુ કઉ સુ. માથે દેવાનો ડુંગર થઈ જ્યોત ક નઈ. હાત હજાર મારી માના કારજ હાતર વ્યાજવા લીધાતા તે હાતના હીતેર હજાર(70,000) ચાણ થઈ જ્યા કોય ખબર ના પડી. દેવું ઉતારવા મારી જાતન થરાદ પાહેણના ગોમડાંમોં ગીરો મુચવાનું નક્કી કીધુ. પણ બહુ દુખ થતુ તુ માર ગોમ સોડવું નતુ.

પુર આયુન ઈની આગલી રાતના મારી મા(માતાજી) પાહેણ બેઠો ઓહુંડા પડી જ્યાતા બેન. મા માર ગોમ નઈ સોડવુ એવી પ્રાર્થના મે કીધી. મુ હારી જ્યો તો. હવારે નેકળવાનું હતું લબાચો તૈયાર હતો. અન બેન બીજા દાડ પુર આઈ જ્યું. સાપરુ ન બધોય સોમોન તણઈ જ્યો. 

નેહાણમાં રેવાનું થ્યું. મનથી હાવ ભોજી જ્યો તો. પણ એ વખતે જ તમે અન નારણભઈ આયા. અમારી હંભાળ લીધી. ન મારી દશા બદલઈ જઈ. મારી માએ મારી વિનતી હોભળી.

દેવું તમે ઉતાર્યું ન જુઓ પાકા ઘરવાળોય થ્યો.

આ ગોવો હવ ગોવિંદ થઈ જ્યો બેન.. 

માતાની રમેણ કરવી હ અન તમાર આબ્બાનું હ્. તમે આવસો પસી જ મુ ઘરમો રેવા જવાનો.’

આ વાત રમેણ કરીને ખોટો ખર્ચ ના કર ગોવિંદ એવું જ્યારે ગોવિંદને કહ્યું ત્યારે એણે કરી. આ વાતને ટીકાના સ્વરૃપમાં ના જોતા ગોવિંદ અને એના જેવા કેટલાય લોકોની શ્રધ્ધા સાથે જોશો. અને હું દૃઢ પણે માનું છુ કે માણસની મહેનત અને સાથે તેની શ્રધ્ધા જ તેને જીવાડે છે.

due to inadequate help

The government under Pandit Dindayal aavas yojana gives help of Rs. 70,000 to build house.  Mostly Nomadic, De-notified and socially backward class take benefit of this scheme, whose situation is really worst. While in Pradhanmantri aavas yojana beneficiaries get help of Rs. 1,20,000.  But benefits of this scheme is available to only those people who are either part of BPL list or whose social status is backward in the economic survey done by government in 2011.  But most of this tribes who are living far away from village, were not included in the survey list. Because of that people who have been allotted plots but haven’t received a help from this Pradhanmantri aavas yojana.

Aavas yojana is meant for providing houses to those who are not having own house. Then why such a partiality is there?

In Pandit Dindayal yojana so many representations are being made to increase the amount of help to Rs. 1,20,000 considering today’s inflation. We wish government pay attention to this representation and be positive in same direction. In upcoming meeting with government, we will take up this issue with other issues of Nomadic tribes. With this government phrase “Sabka sath Sabka vikas”,we  hope it brings similarities in this Yojana as well.

In the image its Nathbapa Vansvadi from Devpura, out of Rs. 70,000 he received some instalments only but even from full amount also it was impossible to build house.  His whole life has gone under temporary structure, and after so much struggle he got plots and now due to inadequate help, this houses will be finished or not, is what they worry about. 

Like Nathabapa there are thousands of families having similar worries, let us hope government would do something meaningful to help ease their worries.

પંડિત દિનદયાળ આવાસ યોજનામાં ઘર બાંધવા સરકાર 70,000ની મદદ કરે. જેનો લાભ મોટાભાગે વિચરતી વિમુક્ત અને સામાજિક રીતે પછાત જાતિના લોકો લે. જેમની હાલત ખરેખર ખરાબ છે. 

જયારે પ્રધાન મંત્રી આવસ યોજના જેમાં 1,20,000 સહાય મળે. પણ આ યોજનાનો લાભ જેમનું નામ BPL યાદીમાં હોય અથવા સરકારે 2011માં કરેલી સામાજિક આર્થિક મોજણીમાં જેમનુ સ્ટેટ્સ પછાત આવ્યું હૉય તેમને મળે. પણ ગામથી દૂર રહેતી આ જાતિઓના ઘણાનો સમાવેશ આ મોજણીમાં થયો જ નથી. આથી જેમને પ્લોટ મળ્યા એમને પ્રધાન મંત્રી આવાસ યોજના અંતર્ગત મદદ મળતી નથી.

આવાસ યોજના એ ઘર વિહોણા લોકોને ઘર આપવાના સઁકલ્પ સાથે કાર્યરત છે તો આમાં ભેદ કેમ? 

પંડિત દિનદયાળમાં પણ સહાયની રકમ આજની મોંઘવારી ને ધ્યાનમાં રાખી 1, 20,000 થાય એ માટે ઘણા વખતથી રજૂઆત થઇ રહી છે. સરકાર ધ્યાન આપી આ દિશામાં કાર્યરત થાય એમ ઇચ્છીએ. આગામી દિવસોમાં વિચરતી જાતીના મુદ્દે સરકાર સાથે બેઠક કરીશું ત્યારે પણ અન્ય મુદ્દા સાથે આ મુદ્દે વાત કરીશું. આશા છે સબકા સાથ સબકા વિકાસ સૂત્રની સાથે સમાનતા પણ દરેક યોજનામાં આવે. 

ફોટોમાં દેવપુરાના નાથબાપા વાંસવાદી છે. 70000 માંથી અમુક હપ્તા મળ્યા પણ આખી રકમમાંથીયે ઘર નહિ થાય. પોતાની જિંદગી છાપરામાં ગઈ કેટલી મહેનતે પ્લોટ મળ્યા પણ સહાય અપૂરતી મળવાના કારણે ઘર પુરા થશે કે એમ એની ચિંતા છે. 

નાથબાપા જેવી ચિંતા હજારો પરિવારોને છે સરકાર એમની ચિંતા હળવી કરવાની દિશામાં વિચારે એવી અભ્યર્થના....

Happiness and Pain both are the constant and continuous process for our nomads...

We all know this but when we are surrounded by tremendous problems in lives, we feel dark all around us. 

Patani Odha is the village having more population of Devipujak community. During July, 2017 flood devastated everything in this village. Everywhere there were tears around. It looked like it is a cursed village. Cattles died and houses of the 45 families were destroyed in flood. How they will start again was the confusion but some well-wishers from the society came forward to support and we started to work upon to re-habilitate these families.

VSSM gave interest free loan to purchase buffalo. Financial help of Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 50,000 are to be given to the families who are affected during the flood and lost their houses. 

The construction of houses is going on i.e. visible. 

We also can see in the photos with inconsolable pain of devastation on the faces and which has turned in to smile visible!

સુખ અને દુઃખ સતત ચાલતી પ્રક્રિયા. 

આપણે સૌ આ જાણીએ પણ દુઃખનો પહાડ જ્યારે માથે પડે ત્યારે બધીએ બાજુ અંધારુ દીશે.

#પટણીઓઢા #દેવીપૂજકોની વસતિવાળુ ગામ. જુલાઈ 2017ના પુરે આ ગામમાં કાળો કેર વર્તાવ્યો. એ વખતે ચારે તરફ નકરી રોક્કડ હતી. શાપીતગામ લાગ્યું હતું એ વખતે. ખીલે બાંધેલા #ઢોર મર્યાના ને 45 પરિવારોના ઘરોય જમીનદોસ્ત થઈ ગયા. કેમ ઊભા થવાશે તે મૂંઝવતું હતું પણ સમાજમાં બેઠેલા સ્નેહીજનો સાથે આવ્યાને આ પરિવારોને બેઠા કરવાનું શરૃ થયું.

ભેંસ લાવવા વગર વ્યાજે લોન આપી. ને ઘરો બાંધવા 45 પરિવારોને રુપિયા 70,000 થી લઈને રૃા.50,000 સુધીની આર્થિક મદદ કરીશું.

જે ઘરો બની રહ્યા છે તે જોઈ શકાય છે. 

ફોટોમાં કાળો કેર વર્તાયો હતો તે વખતની ગમગીની ને હાલ હવે મોંઢા પર સ્મિત છે તેય જોઈ શકાય છે. સાથે પડી ગયેલા ધરો ને vssmની મદદથી બંધાઈ રહેલા ઘરોય દૃશ્યમાન થાય છે.

કુદરતને એક જ પ્રાર્થના બધાને આમ જ હસતા રાખજે.

VSSM helped Nomadic Community Member Govind Build his Dream House

“You have done more than a family member, I can never thank you enough!!”

“I can never thank you enough, Ben. You are my guardian angel! You were kind enough to notice me and take care of my problems. Can you imagine Govind building a pucca house without the support you have provided? Even relatives wouldn’t care as much as you have..” Govind was overwhelmed by  the fact that he will now be living in a pucca house and his debt ridden life is a problem of past.

I happened to meet Govind or rather Govabhai Bajaniyaa, a resident of Totana village during 2017 floods that devastated Banaskantha. Govind earned his living through selling balloons, hair clips, rubber bands, hairbands etc. The death of his mother had required Govind to borrow Rs. 7,000 from a private money lender. The money was to be spent on the last rites of his mother.  Govind kept paying the instalments but, somehow the amount just did not decrease. The interest and principle amount kept increasing and ballooned up to Rs. 70,000. VSSM helped him free from this debt.

The floods had taken away his shanty and the dream of a house remained as shattered as his present. But, the kindness and support of the well-wishers of VSSM helped Govind realize his dream of a pucca house. Mumbai based Chainikabahen extended support of Rs. 25,000 to help build a house for Govind. Very soon Govind will move into his new home, a development that is still very surreal for him!!

ગુજરાતી અનુવાદ 

"તમે મારા #માવીતર સો બેન. તમે મને હોભળ્યો અન મારી હોમે તાચ્યુ. નકર આ ગોવિંદનું તે ઈમ કોય પાકુ ઘર થાય? હગાય ના રાખ એવી લાગણી તમે અમાર બલ્લે રાખી. તમાર તો ઓભાર મોનુ એટલો ઓસો."

ગોવિંદ સાચુ નામ ગોવાભાઈ #બજાણિયા ટોટાણાનો વતની. બનાસકાંઠાના પુર વખતે તેને મળવાનું થયું.

મા મૃત્યુ પામીને એનું #કારજ કરવા ગોવિંદ વ્યાજવા સાત હજાર લાવેલો ને એ સાત હજારના એણે સીત્તેર હજાર ચુકવવાના આવ્યા. કમાઈ કમાઈને વ્યાજ ભર્યા જ કરે પણ મુદલ ઓછી ના થાય.. અમે મદદ કરીને એ વ્યાજમાંથી મુક્ત થયો. #ફુગ્ગા, બોરિયા, બકલ વગેરે વેચવાનું ગોવિંદ કરે.

પુરમાં છાપરુને બધુયે તણાઈ ગ્યું. પાકુ ઘર એતો સ્વપ્ન જેવું હતું પણ સંસ્થાને મદદ કરનાર દાતાઓના સહયોગથી ગોવિંદનું ઘર થયું. મુંબઈના ચૈનિકાબહેને પણ ગોવિંદને ઘર માટે રૂપિયા 25,000ની મદદ કરી.

જુઓ ગોવિંદ હવે ટૂંક સમયમાં જ પોતાના અને એ પણ પાકા ઘરવાળો થવાનો...

આભાર પ્રિયજનો...

ગોવિંદ હાલ જ્યાં રહે છે એ છાપરુ તો જોવું જ રહ્યું ને બે મહિનામાં ગોવિંદ જે ઘરમાં રહેવા જવાનો એ પણ દેખાય.. 

‘તમે અંદરથી ઘરનું બોધકોમ જુઓ’ એવો હરખ ગોવિંદનો એટલે ગોવિંદનો એ સ્વપ્ન બંગલો ચણાતો અંદર બહારથી જોયો....
