“I dreamt of my last rites in courtyard of my home. You have fulfilled my only shadowed desire. May you be blessed 100 years and make you instrumental for millions of other stranded people like us who yearned home once-and-for-all. I request you to help them, too.” Saying this Bhikhibaa from Raigadh Village of Himmatnagar Block in Sabarkantha District blessed me with her both hands on my head.

I prayed thy almighty to make this blessing of Bhikhibaa true as I game my regards to her folding my hands in obeisance. My temptation here is to reach more-and-more people and to make their lives better in all respects. Otherwise, personally, the divine has bestowed abundant wealth for which we have nothing but to express heart-felt gratitude.

Bhartharis’ with Ravanhattha in their hands roam from village-to-village singing Lullaby and Bhajans. When they sing lullabies from home-to-home, people gift them food grains and saris as token of appreciation. The unusable saris go to decorate their shelters while the rest are used by the women of their families. We always say that such shelters do not hold back cold, heat and/or rain. Gradually, they started using tarpaulin sheets instead of these saris for their shelters but even how could they provide protection against winters, Summers and Monsoons. In fact, the situation during the monsoons get worse. They say, “Black caterpillars come out in large numbers during the monsoon. Many a times, they get stuck in flour, cooked meals or on the roofs and we have to throw away the cooked food.”

The entire Bharthari community is very timid. They never fall in any conflict with anyone not even to raise their voice for their own rights. There is a constant fear that they will be casted away from the village if they questioned for their rights. There is a sizable population of this community in Gujarat. We made special and dedicated efforts to give all these families identity and we succeeded in it too. But, the question of permanent address was unaddressed. They needed a place they can call their home. Raigad Gram Panchayat showed its willingness and readiness to allot residential plots to some 06 Bharthari families. The Collector allotted _____ size plots and the Department of Developing Caste Welfare released ₹ 1.20 Lakhs House Construction Grant to these families. They have also received ₹ 12,000.00 incentive under Swachchh Bharat Mission (Gramin) for construction of Sanitation Unit. In sum, the families received ₹ 1.32 Lakh from the Government as construction support. But in concurrent dearness, even this support amount is not sufficient to build a home. Moreover, they needed home with two rooms, a toilet and a bathroom.

Our Dear and Respected Shri Nitinbhai Sumant Shah - The Founder of Heart Foundation and Research Institute (HFRI) and long-term well-wisher of VSSM – donated to the missing balance. Shri Chetanbhai - ALAKHS Family donated doors as a gift and thus, these 06 families became owners of their home. Shri Nitinbhai and Smt. Shri V. D. Zalaji – the MLA of Himmatnagar – came specially to grace the occasion of House Warming Ceremony and welcome these families into their new homes. Shri Manojbhai Soni and Shri Inderbhai Modi – the well-wishers and close associates of VSSM – also graced the occasion. The Sarpanch, the Deputy Sarpanch, Members of the Panchayat, the Talati and all those working at Panchayat remained present too.

A special mention is required for Tohid – the Field Coordinator of the region – who worked real-hard at the backdrop of everything that these families are realizing – from getting citizenry documents to becoming permanent homeowners. He is the true force behind all this to happen. Now, Maheshbhai has also joined him and assist him field worker. It fills us with great pride to have dedicated people in the team like Tohid. Many such settlements develop from our hands is the only wish we have. We pray the divine that we keep on inviting you all – the donors and the well-wishers of VSSM – to grace such occasions of House Warming Celebrations several times a month.

"મારો ચોકો મારા ઘરના ઓગણામો થાય એવી આશા રાખીતી. તમે મારી આસા પુરી કીધી. ભગવોન તમન હો વર(વર્ષ)ના કર અન અમારી ઓતેડી તમે ઠારી એવી અમારા જેવી બીજા ગરીબ ગરબોની પણ ઠારજો."

આવું કહીને સાબરકાંઠાના રાયગઢગામના ભીખીબાએ માથે હાથ મુક્યો. ભીખીબાને વંદન કરીને તેમના આશિર્વાદ ફળે એવું ભગવાનને મનોમન કહ્યું. આમાં લાલચ વધુ લોકોના જીવનને સાતા પહોંચાડવાની.. બાકી વ્યક્તિગત રીતે તો કુદરતે ખૂબ આપ્યું અને એ માટે તો બસ આભાર જ વ્યક્ત કરવાનો.. ભરથરી પરિવારો રાવણહથ્થો લઈને ગામે ગામે હાલરડા અને ભજનો ગાવા ફરતા રહે. લોકોના ઘરે જઈને ભજન કે હાલરડા ગાય એટલે લોકો ભેટમાં અનાજ અને સાડીઓ આપે. આ સાડીઓની આડાશો કરીને એ પોતાના ઘર બાંધે. અમે હંમેશા કહીએ આ ઘરમાં ટાઢ, તડકો અને વરસાદ ન રોકાય. ધીમે ધીમે પ્લાસ્ટીકના મીણિયાથી ઝૂંપડા બંધાવવા માંડ્યા. પણ પ્લાસ્ટીક પણ સુરક્ષા તો નથી જ આપતું. 

ચોમાસામાં દશા તો સખત માઠી થાય. એ લોકો કહે, કાળી ઈયળ ચોમાસામાં ખુબ નીકળે ઘણી વખત એ લોટ બંધાતો હોય એમાં કે રાંધેલા ખોરાકમાં પણ છાપરા ઉપર ચડી હોય તે ઈયળ ઘણી વખત પડે ને અમારે રાંધેલું ફેંકી દેવું પડે. ભરથરી સમાજ આખો આમ બહુ ભીરુ. કોઈ સામે ઝઘડો તો ક્યારેય ન કરે. પોતાના અધિકાર માટે અવાજ પણ ન ઉઠાવે. જો કશું બોલશું ને ગામ કાઢી મુકશે નો ભય એમને હંમેશા લાગે. ગુજરાતમાં આ પરિવારોની વસતિ પણ ઘણી. 

અમે આ બધાને ઓળખ અપાવવા મથ્યા. હવે ઓળખાણના આધારો તો બન્યા. પણ જરૃર હતી ઘરની. રાયગઢ ગ્રામપંચાયતે છ ભરથરી પરિવારોને પ્લોટ આપવાની તૈયારી દર્શાવી. કલેક્ટર શ્રીએ પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા ને વિકસતી જાતિ કલ્યાણખાતાએ 1.20 લાખ મકાન બાંધવા આપ્યા. શૌચાલય માટે પણ 12,000 મળ્યા. ટૂંકમાં 1.32 લાખ મળ્યા. પણ આજની મોંધવારીમાં આટલી રકમમાંથી ઘર ન થાય. વળી ઘર તો બે રૃમ, ટોયલેટ બાથરૃમ સાથેના જોઈતા હતા. 

VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા અમારા પ્રિયજન આદરણીય શ્રી નિતીનભાઈ સુમંત શાહ - હાર્ટ એન્ડ રીસર્ચ ફાઉન્ડેશનના પ્રરેણાતાએ ખૂટતા ઉમેર્યા. ALAKHS Family - શ્રી ચેતનભાઈએ દરવાજા ભેટ રૃપે મોકલી આપ્યા ને છ ભરથરી પરિવારો ઘરવાળા થયા. નિતીનભાઈ અને પ્રતિક્ષાબેનની લાગણી VSSM ના દરેક કાર્યમાં એટલે એ બનતી મદદ હંમેશા કરે. તેમના અમે આભારી છીએ. જ્યારે ચેતનભાઈએ પણ ત્રણ વસાહતોમાં બંધાયેલા ઘર માટે દરવાજા મોકલી આપ્યા. આપ સૌ પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા...

આ પરિવારોને ગૃહપ્રવેશ કરાવવા હિંમતનગરના ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી વી. ડી. ઝાલા ખાસ પધાર્યા. એમની સાથે VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજન શ્રી મનોજભાઈ સોની તેમજ ઈન્દ્રભાઈ મોદી પણ આવ્યા. રાયગઢના સરપંચ, ઉપસરપંચ શ્રી તેમજ પંચાયતના સદસ્યો, તલાટી શ્રી તેમજ પંચાયતમાં કામ કરતા અન્ય કર્મચારી પણ ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા. અમારા કાર્યકર તોહીદભાઈની આ આખા કામમાં જબરી મહેનત. બધા પરિવારોને ઓળખાણના આધારો અપાવવાથી લઈને સૌ પાક્કા ઘરવાળા થાય એ માટે સતત એમણે સતત દોડાદોડી કરી. હવે એમની સાથે મહેશભાઈ પણ કાર્યકર તરીકે જોડાયા. તોહીદભાઈ જેવા સંનિષ્ઠ કાર્યકરો અમારી સાથે હોવાનું ગર્વ..

વગડામાંથી વહાલપની આવી અનેક વસાહતો બનતી જાય. મહિનામાં અનેક વખતે આમંત્રણ કાર્ડ થકી આવી વસાહતોમાં પરિવારોનો ગૃહપ્રવેશ કરાવવા આપ સૌને લખતા રહીએ એવું થાય એ માટે કુદરતને પ્રાર્થના..

We have been instrumental in building homes for 1600 families.

This figure of 1600 is inconsequential considering that there are millions of homeless people in this world. However, we are happy to have done our bit with the help of several well wishers. Moreover we have not stopped at 1600.  In Raigadh village of Sabarkantha we are building  No. 1601 to No.1606 homes. In this endeavour we were helped by Shri Nitin Sumant Shah of Heart Foundation & Research Institute. A very large hearted person, he helps us in various ways apart from house construction.

Seeing their houses getting constructed, Bharthari families were extremely happy. Government provides subsidies of Rs 1.20 lakh per house. The Bharthari families also took loans and gave us money and the balance was contributed by Shri Nitinbhai. Thus with the joint efforts, we could provide homes for the families which have since centuries been nomads and have never ever stayed in properly constructed homes.  Ugarkaka, an elderly from the Bharthari community, said several people asked as to how we could manage to construct such houses when we have spent our lives singing hymns and rhymes ? How did we get so much money ? Ugarkaka laughed and said "we built such houses which gave us pride. Those who have nobody, God is with them"

We are thankful to the Government, Panchayat and respected shri Nitinbhai. They all had kind feelings which made this possible.

We pray to God that we continue to add more to 1600 and also keep on adding more well wishers in our mission. 

 અમે 1600 પરિવારોના ઘરો બાંધવામાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા..

આ આંકડો આ જગતમાં રહેતા ઘર વિહોણાની સંખ્યામાં કીડીના પગ જેટલો. પણ આ નાનકડું કામ VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્વજનો મારફત કરી શક્યાનો હરખ.

વળી 1600થી અમે અટક્યા નથી. સાબરકાંઠાનું રાયગઢ ત્યાં 1601 થી લઈને 1606 નંબરનું ઘર બાંધી રહ્યા છીએ. એમાં મદદ કરી હાર્ટ ફાઉન્ડેશન એન્ડ રીસર્ચ ઈન્સ્ટીટ્યુટના શ્રી નિતીન સુમંત શાહે.. એકદમ દરિયાદીલ વ્યક્તિ. અમને ઘર બાંધકામ સિવાય પણ અન્ય કામોમાં મદદ કરે. 

ઘર બંધાતા જોઈને ભરથરી પરિવારો તો રાજી રાજી. ઘર બાંધકામમાં સરકારે 1.20 લાખની મદદ કરી. ઉપરાંત આ પરિવારોએ પણ અમારી પાસેથી લોન લઈને એક રકમ ઉમેરી બાકીની નીતિનભાઈએ આપી. 

આમ સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી સદીઓથી રઝળપાટ કરનાર અને કદીએ પાક્કા ઘરમાં ન રહેલા પરિવારોના ઘર બંધાવાના શરૃ થયા.

ઉગરાકાકા કહે, 'અમારા ઘર બંધાતા જોઈને ગામના ઘણાએ કહ્યું, અલ્યા તમે તો હાલરડાં ને ભજનો ગાનારા તમારી પાહે આવા અસલ ઘર બાંધવા આટલા બધા પૈસા ક્યાંથી આવ્યા?' આટલુ કહી ઉગરાકાકા હસ્યા. પછી પાછુ કહ્યું, 'વટ પડી જાય એવા ઘર બાંધ્યા. જેનું કોઈ નથી એના ભગવાન તો છે ને?' 

સરકાર, પંચાયત અને આદરણીય નીતિનભાઈના અમે આભારી. આ બધાની લાગણી હતી એટલે આ કામ થયું.

બસ 1606 થી આગળ આંકડા લખ્યા કરીએ એવી રીતે સૌને સાથે જોડવા ઈશ્વરને પ્રાર્થના...

“Our entire life has been spent singing lullabies on the tunes of ektara, we have wandered through villages,  but we now want to settle down for good…” Ramaba from Patan’s Vagdod had shared when I had last met him.

VSSM’s Mohanbhai and local volunteer Sureshbhai persevered hard to ensure Ramaba and other four families like his obtain residential plots.

The District Collector also has been tremendously proactive towards this effort.

And how can we forget the support of our Chief Minister to ensure housing for all?

The efforts of all amalgamated to ensure these five families receive residential plots and documents to it.

“Not even in our wildest dreams had we imagined we would have a definite address in this lifetime, you have brought us this joy,” the families have been brimming with joy.

The village Sarpanch and local authorities’ positive attitude has enabled this allotment.

We shall remain consistent and persistent to ensure these homeless families who often sigh, “Ben, even the birds have nest when will we have a home to stay,” receive an address to build their home.

We are and shall remain eternally grateful to all of you for choosing to support us in our endeavours.

'રાવણહથ્થા પર ભજનો ને હાલરડાં વગાડવામાં આખી જીંદગી કાઢી. એક ગામથી બીજેને ત્યાંથી ત્રીજે ખુબ રઝળ્યા.. પણ હવે ઠરીઠામ થવું છે...'

પાટણના વાગદોડમાં રહેતા રામાબા ભરથરીએ એમને મળવાનું થયેલું એ વેળા આ કહેલું.

અમારા કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈ અને આ વિસ્તારમાં અમને મદદરૃપ થતા સુરેશે રામાબા ને એમના જેવા બીજા ચાર પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળે તે માટે જેહમત ઉઠાવી.

વળી સહયોગ આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીનો પણ.. 

આમ સૌના સમન્વયથી આ પાંચે પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટની સનદ મળી. આ પરિવારોનો હરખ તો માતો નથી. એ લોકો કહે, 

'અમને કલ્પાન જ નહોતી કે અમારુ પાક્કુ સરનામુ થશે પણ તમે સાથે આવ્યા ને લાગ્યા રહ્યા એટલે થયું'

ગામના સરપંચ ને અન્ય અધિકારીગણનો સહયોગ પણ સરસ રહ્યો એટલે આ કાર્ય થઈ શક્યું. 

પંખીઓને પણ માળા હોય બેન ત્યારે અમારે ઘર કેમ નહીં એવું કહેનાર આ પરિવારોનું પોતાનું ઘરનું સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થાય તે માટે અવીરત મથીશું...

આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર સૌનો આભાર..

Galbakaka sings lullabies on the tunes of his ektara/Ravanhattha. The families who host him offer sarees in return of his melodies lullabies that bless their new born. It is has been a traditional practice, the sarees aren’t used as drape but to make shelters, protect them from the harshness of forces of nature. “How does one even feel secured under such a house, what do such houses protect one from?” I had asked myself when I had seen these houses for the first time. Nonetheless, many Bharathari families like Galbakaka have survived like so on government wastelands for generations. There is a constant fear of eviction by the enforcement department.

“Ben, we would be on seventh heaven if we also get a plot to build a house this time…” VSSM consistently strives to fulfil the dream of a pucca house Galbakaka and thousands like him have watched!!

The efforts by VSSM have led to the formation of special provisions that allow allocation of residential plots to NT-DNTs yet,  some nomadic communities like the Bharthari did not stand to benefit under this provision as their sub-sect was not part of the list. VSSM appealed for the inclusion of certain sub-sects to the list of included communities,  one of which was Bharthari as sub-sect of Nath community. The inclusion unlocked the possibility of Bharthari receiving residential plots from the government. We have been struggling for years to make it feasible for this community to benefit under such government policies, but things kept getting dragged and delayed.

In the meantime, Shri Anand Patel took charge as District Collector of Banaskantha. Growing up, Anandbhai has experienced the presence of the nomadic communities in his village, he had seen them work hard when they came to provide various services in the village he grew up. Anandbhai felt it was his turn to give back, and pledged to give them permanent addresses. Anandbhai’s compassion and commitment have been backed by the support from our Chief Minister  Shri Vijaybhai Rupani and Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Ishwarbhai Parmar and his very own team member Additional officer Shri Hirenbhai Patel. As a result, Anandbhai has promised himself to accomplish as much as he can to fulfil his pledge.

The Banaskantha administration has been instrumental in offering the most significant gift to 114 families from Bharthari, Vansfoda, Devipujak, Valmiki and Raval communities of  Mahadeviya, Aadoda, Odhav, Rajpur, Ratanpur, Bhadrevadi, Raviyana, Tana, Shihori villages of Kankrej and Deesa blocks. These families received documents to their residential plots during a special program organised on the auspicious day of Labh Pancham.

Shri Kirtisihji, MLA from Kankrej and someone who works for the benefit of the poor, Shir Bharatsinhji Bhatesariya, BJP General Secretary also remained present at this event.

VSSM’s team members who work very hard for these families Naranbhai, Maheshbhai, Bhagwanbhai, Ishwarbhai remained on their toes.

The poor benefited when people joined hands to contribute towards the welfare and good of these families.

Today, Galbakaka is not with us, but his soul will experience happiness and peace when his wife will soon move into a pucca house of her own.

We salute our Prime Minister’s pledge of providing house to the homeless by the end of 2022.  The administration has taken up this pledge as an opportunity and become instrumental in allotment of plots and houses to all,  including the nomadic and de-notified communities. We hope just like Surendranagar and Banaskantha other districts also speed up the task of clearing long-pending applications for allotment of residential plots.

ગલબાકાકા રાવણહથ્થા પર હાલરડાં ગાવાનું કરે.. ભેટમાં લોકો સાડી ને દાણા આપે. આ સાડીમાંથી ગલબાકાકા ને એમના જેવા ભરથરીઓ પોતાનું છાપરુ ઊભુ કરે..(જે ફોટોમાં દેખાય છે) મે પહેલીવાર એમનું આ આશિયાના જોયેલું ત્યારે થયેલું આમાં તો ટાઢ, તડકો કે વરસાદ કશુંયે રોકાય નહીં.. આવામાં કેવી રીતે રહી શકાય?  પણ ગલબાકાકા જેવા ઘણાય આવી જ રીતે રહેતા હતા. વળી પાછુ રહેઠાણની જગ્યા પણ સરકારી. કાયમ કોઈ ખાલી કરાવી દેશેનો ભય તો એમના માથે તોળાતો જ હોય. કાકા કહેતા ‘બેન એક ફેરા મારુ પાક્કુ ઘર થઈ જાય ને તો ગંગા નાહ્યા...’ એમનું ને એમના જેવા ઘણાનું આ સમણું સાકાર થાય એ માટે VSSM કોશીશ કરે...

આમ તો વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફળવાય એ માટે સરકારે ખાસ જોગવાઈ કરી છે. પણ સદાય વિચરતુ જીવન જીવતા ભરથરીનું નામ આ યાદીમાં દાખલ થવાનું રહી ગયું. અમે કોશીશ કરીને ને મૂળ નાથ સમુદાયના પર્યાય તરીકે ભરથરીનો સમાવેશ થયો..ને એમને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવવાની બારી ખુલ્લી થઈ.. 

આ પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પોતાનો પ્લોટ મળે તે માટે અમે વર્ષોથી રજૂઆત કરીયે પણ કહેવાય છે ને જેના હાથમાં જશ રેખા હોય, જેમના હૃદયમાં વંચિતો માટે કરુણાભાવ એમના હાથે આવા શુભ કાર્યો થાય.. 

બનાસકાંઠા કલેક્ટર તરીકે શ્રી આનંદ પટેલે કાર્યભાર સંભાળ્યો. આનંદભાઈ અદના ગુજરાતી નાનપણમાં વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોને પોતાના ગામમાં અવનવી સેવા આપવાના હેતુસર આવતા દીઠેલા એટલે એ ઋણાનુબંધે પણ એમણે આ પરિવારોને પોતાનું સરનામુ આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. એમાં સાથ મલ્યો માનનીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી વિજયભાઈ રૃપાણીનો તેમજ સામાજિક ન્યાય અધિકારીતા વિભાગના મંત્રી શ્રી ઈશ્વરભાઈ પરમારનો. વળી પોતાની ટીમમાં શ્રી હીરેનભાઈ પટેલ જેવા પ્રાંત અધિકારી પણ એટલે થાય એટલું કાર્ય કરી લેવાનો નિર્ધાર પોત મેળે જ થઈ જાય..

#મહાદેવિયા ઉપરાંત આસેડા, ઓઢવ, રાજપુર, રતનપુરા, ભદ્રેવાડી, રવિયાણા, તાણા, શિહોરી એમ મળીને કાંકરેજ અને ડીસા તાલુકામાં રહેતા ભરથરી, વાંસફોડા, દેવીપૂજક, વાલ્મિકી, રાવળ એમ કુલ 114 પરિવારોને લાભ પાંચમના શુભ અવસરે રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવી આ પરિવારોના કલ્યાણમાં બનાસકાંઠાનું વહીવટીતંત્ર નિમિત્ત બન્યું ને સનદ વિચરણનો સુંદર કાર્યક્રમ થયો..

કાંકરેજના ધારાસભ્ય ને નાના માણસોની મુશ્કેલીમાં સદાય સાથે ઊભા રહેનાર શ્રી કીર્તીસીંહજી, ભાજ્પના મહામંત્રી શ્રી ભારતસીંહજી ભટેસરિયા વગેરે આ કાર્યમાં ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા.. 

બનાસકાંઠાના અમારા સક્રિય કાર્યકરો નારણભાઈ, મહેશભાઈ, ભગવાનભાઈ તેમજ ઈશ્વરભાઈની પણ સતત દોડધામ... 

મંગલકાર્યમાં સૌ સાથે આવ્યા ને આ પરિવારોનું મંગલ થયું... આજે ગલબાકાકા સદેહે હાજર નથી પણ એમના પત્ની થોડા સમયમાં જ પોતાના ઘરમાં રહેવા જશે એ જોઈને એમનો આત્મા જરૃર રાજી થશે..  

2022 સુધીમાં તમામ ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘર આપવાના માનનીય વડાપ્રધાન શ્રીના સંકલ્પને પ્રણામ... 

ઈશ્વરે આપેલી આ તક વહીવટીતંત્રએ ઉપાડી છે. બનાસકાંઠા, સુરેન્દ્રનગરની જેમ અન્ય જિલ્લામાં પણ આ બાબતે વેગ પકડાય એમ ઈચ્છીએ..

Ishwarbhai Bharathri living in Dhanera, his whole house was filled with mud because of floods. (which you can see in a picture) House wasn’t that strong to sustain against flood water. That’s why water found its way from where ever it could and whole house was destroyed.

After so many years of hard work this brick-mud house could be built and this floods came…all their household things went away with water. He took his family and cows and went far away as he wasn’t left with any hopes that new house will be build.

That time our well-wishers connected to organization helped him and as can been seen in the picture that the work has been started to build his new house…

The current living condition of nomads

ધાનેરામાં રહેતા ઈશ્વરભાઈ #ભરથરીનું આખુ ઘર પુરમાં કીચડથી ભરાઈ ગયેલું.(જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે) ઘરની એવી ક્યાં મજબૂતી હતી તે એ આવા પાણી સામે ટકે? એટલે પાણીને જ્યાંથી જગ્યા મળી ત્યાંથી એણે રસ્તો શોધી લીધો ને આખુ ઘર ફોટોમા દેખાય છે એ રીતે તુટી ગયું.

કેટલા વર્ષોની મહેનત પછી ઈંટ માટીથી આ ઘર ઊભુ થયું ને આ પૂરે....બધો સામાનેય એ વખતે તણાઈ ગયેલો. બાલબચ્ચાને લઈને ઢોર માથે જતા રહેલા ઈશ્વરભાઈને નવું ઘર બનશે તેવી આશ જ નહોતી.

પણ સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા શુભેચ્છક સ્વજનોની મદદ તેમનું ઘર બંધાવવાનું શરૃ થયું જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે...

‘We have been wandering since ages, I swear to God, I have no idea since how many years I have been living here in Dhanera. When I was brought here, there were only a railway station, a fenced field and few farmers were living here. Nothing else was there in Dhanera. We didn’t have our own house, we used to live in a small hut. Since last 10 years we had this brick-mud house and that too was destroyed by flood waters. Nothing was left.’

DivaMa Bharathri lives in Dhanera. After a lot of struggle this kachcha house was built and it shattered in this floods. Whatever they had, to make that even it took years and now making all new again on their own seems very difficult.

We are helping to the families of Bajaniya, Bharathri, and Vansfodavadi commuinties, whose houses were destroyed in floods. The help of Rs. 50,000 was given to each family. So DivaMa also received help of Rs. 50,000 to build her house.

Three days back, I went to Dhanera to see construction process of Diva ma’s house and others as well. I asked Diva ma, ’Your house is being made, are you liking it?’

‘Yes of course, who would not like it. We are really happy seeing that’

By listening this words of Diva ma, Mukeshbhai standing near to me said, ‘Ben, Diva ma gave this house to her brother-in-law’s son.  All money you gave, that too she gave it to him. Hence Diva ma is still deprived of having her own house.’

‘Why is so? We gave money to build your own house and you gave that to someone else. This doesn’t seem alright.’

‘Ben, he doesn’t have a place to stay. He is a son of my brother-in-law. His parents are no more, hence I have brought him up like my own son. He was also wandering without own house like me.  

His shanty was shattered in floods. We wanted to submit his application to organisation too but Maheshbhai said that organisation is out of money so we couldn’t proceed. But I that, ‘My house will be made and his won’t, then I would feel myself selfish, so I gave this house to him.’

By reading this you will be proud of Diva ma, Right?

These people are financially poor but morally very high and rich. Diva ma has her own one son; with whom she is staying right now under one roof. She didn’t think of even having this house for her own son. From my perspective she is a real guardian.

When she was asked in a video about, ‘How happy she is, by looking at her house being built,’ then she even said, she is very happy. If you will see video, you won’t even realise, that her house is not being made but it’s for her nephew. But her joy was so pure, as if her own house is being built. 

She cared more for others then her own self. This is truly her mightiness, we salute to her generosity and selflessness. 

'અમે તો પેલ્લેથી રખડતા ભગવોનની સોગન મન કોય ખાત્રી જ નહીં ક ચેટલા વરહથી ઓય (ધાનેરામાં) રેતી. ધોનેરામાં એક રેલવે ટેશન હતું એ વખતે મન ઓય લાયેલી બીજુ કશુય નતું. એક વોરવાડ હતી, એક કણબીઓ રેતાતા. બીજુ કોય નતું. અમારુ ઘરબર કોય નતું. ઝૂંપડાંમોં રેતાતા. દોહ (દસ) વરહથી ઈંટાળા માંડ્યોતા તે આ પોણી આયું તે ઈટાળાનય લઈ જ્યું હોમું ન હોમું. કોય ના રાસ્યુ.’

દીવા મા ભરથરી ધાનેરામાં રહે. પુરમાં માંડ માંડ ઈંટ માટીથી બનાવેલું ઘર સાવ જમીનદોસ્ત થઈ ગયું. જેટલું બનાવ્યું હતું એ બનાવતાય વર્ષો નીકળી ગયા હતા ત્યાં નવેસરથી પોતાનીરીતે બનાવવું તો અઘરુ હતું.

અમે ધાનેરામાં રહેતા અને જેમના ઘરો પુરના કારણે રહેવા લાયક નથી તેવા બજાણિયા, ભરથરી અને વાંસફોડાવાદી પરિવારોના ઘરો બનાવવામાં 50,000ની ઘરદીઠ મદદ કરી રહ્યા છીએ. દીવામાને પણ એમનું ઘર બનાવવા 50,000ની મદદ કરી.

ત્રણ દિવસ પહેલાં ધાનેરા ગઈ ત્યારે દીવામાનું ને અન્યોના ઘરોનું બાંધકામ કેવું ચાલે છે તે જોવા ગઈ. દીવા માને પુછ્યું, ‘ઘર બની રહ્યું છે તે ગમે છે?’

‘હોવ કુન ના ગમ. અસલ બહુ રાજી બેન.’

દિવામા ના આ શબ્દો સાંભળી બાજુમાં ઊભેલા મુકેશભાઈએ કહ્યું, ‘બેન દિવામાએ આ ઘર એમના જેઠના છોકરાંને આપી દીધુ છે.તમે આપેલા પૈસા પણ એમણે એને આપ્યા. એટલે દિવા માનું ઘર નથી થયું.’

‘અરે એમ કેમ? અમે તો તમારા ઘર માટે તમને પૈસા આપ્યા હતા અને તમે આમ બીજાને આપી દો એ ના ચાલે.’

‘પણ બેન એની પાહે રેવા જેવું કોય નતું. મારા જેઠનો સોકરો હ. મા- બાપ કોય નતા એટલ પેલણથી મારી કને મારા સોકરાં ઘોડે જ મોટો થ્યો હ. એય ઘર વગરનો રખડ ન મુએ રખડું. ઈનીએ ઓયડી પડી જી પુરમોં. ઈનુંય ફોરમ તમારી કને મુચવુંતું પણ મહેશભઈ(સંસ્થાના કાર્યકર) એ કીધુ ક પૈસા પતી જ્યાં એટલ રેવા દીધું. પણ મન ઝપ ના વળી. મારુ ઘર થાય ન ઈનું ના થાય તો મુ સ્વારથી કેવઉં એટલ આ ઘર ઈન આલી દીધુ.’

બોલો વાંચીન દીવા મા પ્રત્યે માન વધી જાય ને?

આ માણસો આર્થિક રીતે ગરીબ પણ એની અમીરી અને સમજણ ભલભલાને આંટી દે એવી. પાછા આ દિવામાને એક દીકરો છે જેની સાથે એ છાપરાંમાં રહે છે. પોતાના દીકરા માટેઆ ઘર એવો વિચારેય દિવામાને ના આવ્યો. મારી દૃષ્ટિએ આજ ખરા પાલક કહેવાય. 

વળી પાછુ ઘર મળ્યા પછી હરખ છે એવું મે પુછ્યું તો ખુબ રાજી એવી વાત એમણે વિડીયોમાં કરી. વિડીયો જોશો તો ખ્યાલ પણ નહીં આવે કે દિવામાનું ઘર નથી થઈ રહ્યું ઘર તો તેમના ભત્રીજાનું થઈ રહ્યું છે. પણ હરખ પોતાનું જ ઘર થયું હોય એવો એમને છે. 

પોતાના જણ્યાની ચિંતા કરવાની જગ્યાએ પારકાની ચિંતા એમણે કરી. ખરે જ આ એમની મોટાઈ ને તેમની આ મોટાઈ ને સમજણને અમારા પ્રણામ.
