Sarbai Ma from Bhadwana village in Surendranagar has been saying this for years. Whenever we visited her, she would always talk about how much longer she had to wait...

We used to say that if it were in our hands to give a house, we would do it in a snap. But the job of allotting plots is with the government. Anyway, after years of effort and with the help of the village Sarpanch Shri Kuldeepbhai, the family members of Sarbai Ma in Bhadwana got plots. We started building the house. Seeing this, Sarbai Ma was very happy.

When we went to see her, she would first kiss our hands and then express her sorrow. She spoke with such affection, calling me her daughters, that I felt deeply moved.

She had a problem with her leg and had to have it amputated. She was physically very troubled. But she lived with the hope of seeing her son's house, and when we started building the house, she said now her heart is at peace...

Today, having felt this peace, Sarbai Ma departed from this world. But her heart was at peace. Our Harshad informed her of the news. Volunteer Harshad has been tirelessly working for all these families for years... He was also distressed by Sarbai Ma's passing but satisfied that her last wish was fulfilled.

Fulfilling someone's hope is such a great thing. As VSSM, we are pleased to have been an instrument in this.

ખેર વર્ષોની મહેનતથી અને ગામના સરપંચ શ્રી કુલદીપભાઈની મદદથી ભડવાણાના સારબાઈમાના પરિવારના વ્યક્તિઓને પ્લોટ મળ્યા.

અમે ઘર બાંધવાના શરૃ કર્યું. એ જોઈને સારબાઈમા રાજી રાજી..

જ્યારે ડંગે જવું તો પહેલાં હાથ ચુમે ને પછી દુઃખણા લે.. આવી મારી દીકરી એવું એવા હેતથી બોલે કે સાંભળીને ગદગદ થઈ જવાય.

એમને પગમાં તકલીફ થઈ પગ કાપવો પડ્યો. શારિરીક રીતે ખુબ હેરાન થતા હતા. પણ દીકરાનું ઘર થાય એ જોવાની આશામાં એ જીવતા ને અમે ઘર બાંધવાના શરૃ કર્યા એટલે એમણે કહ્યું હવે જીવને નિરાંત...

આ નિરાંત એમણે અનુભવી ને આજે સારબાઈમાએ આ દુનિયામાંથી વિદાય લીધી. પણ એમના જીવને ટાઢક હતી. અમારા હર્ષદે એમને આ સમાચાર આપ્યા. કાર્યકર હર્ષદ વર્ષોથી આ બધા પરિવારો માટે સતત મથે... એ પણ સારબાઈમા જવાથી વ્યથીથ. પણ સંતોષ એમનું સમણું પુરુ થયાનો પણ ખરો.. 

કોઈની આશા પુરી કરવી કેટલી મોટી વાત.. VSSM તરીકે અમે નિમિત્ત બન્યાનો રાજીપો..

Someone asked Vinobaji, What according to you is religion ?

Vinobaji replied its self introspection & service to the poor.

We have many who work to improve the lives of the people in distress. We at VSSM, in a small way, are also involved in service to the poor.

As such under the banner of VSSM we undertake different causes. One of the important work that we do is to assist in building homes for the deprived nomadic tribes.

These tribes have been nomads since centuries and have no identity of their own. We represent their case before the government, give them an identity and then convince the government to allot land. We then play a very important role in the construction of their houses.

In Diyodar village of Banaskantha District we got the land allotted to 134 families after much effort. Even though there was no government land available and in spite of technical difficulties, we managed the allotment because of support of present Collector of Banaskantha Shri Anand Patel & of the Sarpanch of Banaskantha Shri Kiran Kumari Vaghela & interest taken by the village senior Shri GirirajSinh Vaghela.

Our VSSM colleagues Shri Naranbhai & Shri Ishwarbhai did a lot of running around to ensure the allotment of land. Now we have to construct houses for these 134 families. Government will fund Rs 1.32 lakhs per house, we will collect some from the 134 families and the rest we expect to get donations from our well wishers.In short with the support & co-operation of all we will construct wonderful homes.

We did land worship and in that ceremony all the important persons of the village remained present. Everyone wishes that lovely homes are built for these nomadic families

It is so much of a pleasure to see these families settling down in their permanent homes which they could only dream of. If every village can accept the nomadic families it would be ideal. We talk about the World being one large family but there are people in some villages who object to the nomads settling down in their villages. It is very saddening to see this. Diyodar village is different. As such it is a small village. so there is no objection to alloting the land in the village to nomads. But we wish that let every family without the house get one & be happy.

We will soon start the construction of homes for the nomads allotted land at Diyodar.

વિનોબાજીને કોઈયે પ્રશ્ન કર્યો.

બાબા તમારી દૃષ્ટિએ ધર્મ એટલે શું?

બાબાએ કહ્યું, 'આત્મચિંતન અને દરિદ્રનારાયણની સેવા'

આપણા ત્યાં અનેક લોકો જેમને આપણે દરિદ્રનારાયણ કહીએ તેના ઉત્કર્ષના કાર્યોમાં લાગ્યા છે. અમે પણ અમારી રીતે નાનકડો પ્રયત્ન કરીએ.

આમ તો VSSM ના નેજા હેઠળ અમે અનેક વિવિધ સમાજકાર્યો કરીએ. તેમાંનું એક વિચરતી જાતિના, તકવંચિત પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામમાં મદદરૃપ થવાનું.

વળી સરનામાં વિનાનાં આ પરિવારો સદીઓ રઝળ્યા હોય. એમના ક્યાંય સરનામાં ન થયા હોય. તેમને પ્રથમ તો સરકારમાં રજૂઆત કરીને અમે રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ અપાવીએ પછી તેના પર ઘર બાંધવાનું કરીએ.

બનાસકાંઠાના દિયોદરમાં 134 ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘણા વર્ષોની મહેનત પછી હમણાં પ્લોટ ફળવાયા. દિયોદરમાં ગામતળ કે સરકારી પડતર જમીન ઉલબ્ધ નહીં. ગૌચરની જગ્યા સરકાર ફાળવે નહીં. ઘણી ટેકનીક મુશ્કેલીઓ હતી પણ બનાસકાંઠાના તત્કાલીન કલેક્ટર શ્રી આનંદ પટેલે એમાં ઘણી મદદ કરી ને દિયોદર સરપંચ શ્રી કીરણ કુમારી વાઘેલા અને ત્યાંના રાજવી ગીરીરાજસિંહ વાઘેલાએ ઘણો રસ લીધો. 

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ અને ઈશ્વરભાઈની સતત દોડાદોડી પરિણામે 134 પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાયા.

હવે આ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાનું કરવાનું છે. સરકારના 1.32 લાખ આવશે એ સિવાય અમે પણ એમને મદદ કરીશું ને આ પરિવારો પણ પોતાની રીતે થોડા ઘણા ઉમેરશે. ટૂંકમાં સૌના સહિયારા પ્રયાસોથી સરસ ઘરો બંધાશે. 

જે જગ્યા પર ઘર બંધાવાના છે તે જગ્યાનું ભૂમીપૂજન કરવામાં આવ્યું જેમાં દિયોદરના જાગૃત અને સંવેદનશીલ વ્યક્તિઓ ખાસ હાજર રહ્યા. સૌની લાગણી આ પરિવારોના સરસ ઘર બંધાય તેવી. 

ઘર જેમના માટે પરિકલ્પના જેવું છે એ પરિવારોને ધીમે ધીમે એક જગ્યા પર સેટ થતા જોઈને રાજી થવાય છે. દરેક ગામ આવા પરિવારોને અપનાવે તે આદર્શ સ્થિતિ છે. વસુદૈવ કુટુંબકમઃની વાત આપણે કરીએ પણ એમના વસવાટ સામે વિરોધ પણ ઘણા ગામોમાં થાય છે. આ જોઈએ ત્યારે ઘણું દુઃખ થાય છે.

ખેર બનાસકાંઠાનું દિયોદર એ બાબતે નોખુ. આમ તો નાનકડુ શહેર છે એટલે વિરોધ નથી એમ પણ કહી શકાય.

પણ આશા રાખીએ ભવિષ્યમાં દરેક ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તે સ્થાયી થાય ને સુખ પામે તેવી. 

દિયોદરમાં જેમને પ્લોટ ફળવાયા તેના ઘરો પણ ટૂંક સમયમાં શરૃ કરીશું...

‘In Khamisana, government’s subsidy has come to the accounts of those who have been allocated plots.’

Harshad, our field worker in Surendranagar said this with a lot of joy. We have been trying for years to get these families a home. Harshad has worked hard day and night for this. 

The families got possession letters but   the permission required to construct the houses was getting unduly delayed.  Respected CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel had a word with the District Collector Shri Sampat regarding this matter. The District Collector himself being a sensitive person gave the instructions to his subordinates & the permission was received. Then we could fill the forms for house construction grant. 

Shri Moradiya Saheb was appointed as officer at Social Welfare department at Surendranagar. He is a very compassionate officer. His attitude is more of a social worker than an officer. He has lot of sympathy for the deprived people of the society. His supervisor was equally sensitive. He and his supervisor, both remained present at the Bhoomi Poojan. Moreover, he knows the work of VSSM so he has been helpful as well. Truptiben Acharya whom we fondly call Tiniben was also there to bless the event. Talati Madam also remained present. The beneficiary families whose houses we are going to construct were also present.

We discussed with the beneficiaries what kind of houses they want. Everyone expressed that they want the house with one room, verandah, toilet and bathroom. This is costly. The approximate cost is Rs. 3.50 lakhs. Every family showed willingness to put in their share towards the cost of the house. 

The Government will provide Rs. 1.20 Lakhs, beneficiaries will give Rs. 80,000-1 lakh and the organization (VSSM) will give the support of Rs. 1. 25 lakhs per family. The houses will be constructed with the collective efforts of all.

Our very dear well -wisher, Shri Kishore Uncle from USA, will help us in this work. Kush Society will be constructed in the memory of his son Kushal Patel. We are grateful to Shri Kishore Uncle for his magnanimous contribution towards the construction of houses. 

Many people are blessed with happiness & resources on this earth. & when we start spreading it amongst the deprived then the sorrow will decrease from this world. We are extremely happy to be a medium in this wonderful exercise.

May the families of Khamisana be happy and prosper. We pray for their prosperity on this wonderful occasion of Bhoomi Poojan.

‘ખમીસણામાં જેમને પ્લોટ ફળવાયા છે એમના ખાતામાં સરકારી સહાય આવી ગઈ છે..’

અમારા સુરેન્દ્રનગરના કાર્યકર હર્ષદે ખુબ હરખ સાથે આ વાત કહી. કટેલા વર્ષોથી આ પરિવારો ઘરવાળા થાય તે માટે અમે સૌ મથતા. હર્ષદની મહેનત તો દિવસ રાતની. 

સનદ મળી પણ મકાન બાંધવા બાંધકામ ચીઠ્ઠી ન મળે. મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલે કલેક્ટર શ્રી સંપત સાહેબ સાથે આ બાબતે વાત કરી. કલેક્ટર શ્રી પોતે પણ લાગણીવાળા એમણે સૂચના આપી પછી બાંધકામ ચીઠ્ઠી મળી એ પછી મકાન સહાય મળે તે માટેના ફોર્મ ભરી શક્યા. 

સમાજ કલ્યાણ અધિકારી તરીકે મોરડિયા સાહેબની સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં નિયુક્તી થઈ એ ખુબ લાગણીવાળા અધિકારી. આમ તો અધિકારી કરતા એ સામાજિક કાર્યકર જેવા વધુ લાગે. તકવંચિતો માટે એમને ખુબ લાગણી. એમાંય અમારા કાર્યોને જાણે એટલે મદદ પણ કરે. તેમની સાથે તેમના નિરીક્ષક પણ એવા જ લાગણીવાળા. 

ખમીસણામાં જ્યાં પ્લોટ ફળવાયા તે પરિવારોના ઘરો બાંધતા પહેલાં ભૂમીપૂજન કરવામાં આવ્યું તેમાં બેઉ અધિકારી હાજર રહ્યા. હર્ષદ અને જલપા બેય અમારા કાર્યકર એમણે ભૂમીપૂજન કર્યું. સાથે સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં થઈ રહેલા અમારા કાર્યોમાં સદાય મદદ કરતા તૃપ્તીબેન આચાર્ય અમે તો એમને ટીનીબહેન કહીએ એ પણ હાજર રહ્યા. ખમીસણાના તલાટી બહેન શ્રી પણ હાજર રહ્યા ને જેમના ઘર બાંધવાના હતા તે પરિવારો તો ખરા જ. 

ભૂમીપૂજન પછી ઘર કેવા બાંધવા તે અંગે ચર્ચા થઈ દરેકની ઈચ્છા ધાબાવાળા એક રૃમ ઓસરી, ટોયલેટ બાથરૃમ સાથેના ઘરો બાંધવાની. આવું ઘર બાંધવા ખર્ચો પણ ઘણો થાય. અંદાજે 3.5 લાખ આસપાસ. દરેક પરિવારે એ માટે પોતે ભાગીદારી કરશેની વાત પણ કરી. 

સરકારના 1,32,000, સમુદાયના પોતાના 80,000 થી લઈને 1 લાખ અને સંસ્થા 1.25 લાખ પ્રત્યેક લાભાર્થીના ઘર બાંધકામમાં ઉમેરશે. આમ સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી આ કાર્ય પાર પડશે.

VSSM ને આ કાર્ય માટે અમેરીકામાં રહેતા અમારા કિશોર અંકલ (કિશોરભાઈ પટલ) મદદ કરશે. તેમના દિકરા કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં આખી કુશ સોસાયટી તૈયાર થશે. કુશ સોસાયટી રૃપી સુંદર સ્મરણાંજલી કુશલભાઈને આપવા બદલ કિશોર અંકલને તેમના પરિવારના અમે આભારી છીએ. 

કુદરતે દુનિયામાં સુખ ઘણા લોકોને આપ્યું છે. આ સુખ વહેંચવામાં આપણે નિમિત્ત બનવા માંડીએ તો પણ આ દુનિયામાંથી દુઃખો ઘટવા માંડશે એ નક્કી..

ખમીસણામાં જે 65 પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાના છે તે પરિવારો ખમીસણાની ભૂમી પર સુખી થાય. તેમની સુખાકારી વધે તેવી ભૂમીપૂજન નિમિત્તે પ્રાર્થના...

Mittal Patel meets Ramu Ma in Surendranagar

“We will have to meet Ramu Ma in Dudhrej, Surendranagar.” Harshad tells me as we began our travel to the region. And we reach to meet her at her home.

If a rickety charpoy placed under a transparent tarp could be called a home, then this was the home of Ramu Ma. Her belongings were her few vessels, hand-stitched quilts, and mattresses made with collected rags. Harshad calls her medicine bottle, water pot, and charpoy her only tressure.

When Ramu Ma was able-bodied, she would harvest and sell fodder for cattle; whatever little she earned was enough to buy her food for a couple of days. “I would bring potatoes for  Rs. 5 and stretch them for 2-3 days,” the statement shook me.

“Monsoon must be tough on you?” I inquired.

“Oh, the rains drench me completely, and I get busy scooping out water from the tarp roof. If I don’t do that, the entire tarp sheet will fall on my charpoy.” Ramu Ma mentioned.

And the unseasonal rains made us witness the statement she had mentioned.

Ramu Ma lived under deplorable conditions. We offered to build her a house. “No, no. It would cost you a lot,” was her modest reply. Surprisingly, poverty had not made her greedy. It is tough to find honest humans like Ramu Ma. “Do not worry about cost; let us build you one room.” We insisted.

We requested US-based Kishore uncle (Kishorebhai Patel) to help us build a house for Ramu Ma in memory of his son Kushbhai.

I had visited the site to monitor the progress while the house was under construction. “What colour do you want on the exterior walls of your house?” I had asked. Ramu Ma held the maroon dupatta I was wearing and showed me maroon colour. “This!” she said as she picked maroon for her wall. And we got her home painted with the colours she had chosen. I was at Ramu ma’s brand new home when she had her housewarming pooja; VSSM’s Harshad and his wife Jalpa had cooked lapshi, to herald new beginnings. They are the family she has made in this process and like a true son Harshad also takes good care of Ramu Ma.

We are grateful to Kishore uncle for keeping the memory of his son alive in such a noble way, and we decided to name this house ‘Kushal Home.’

Ramu Ma’s treasure is not limited to Khatli (Charpoy), Matli (earthen water pot), dava ni batli (medicine bottle); now she has a beautiful home to call her own.

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના દૂધરેજમાં રામુમા રહે છે આપણે એમને મળશું એવું અમારા હર્ષદે કહ્યું ને અમે પહોંચ્યા રામુમાના ઘરે. 

હર્ષદે ઘર કહેલું પણ ઘરના નામે કશુંયે નહીં એક પારદર્શી મીણિયાની નીચે એક ખાટલો ગોઠવેલો. મર્યાદીત વાસણો, બે ચાર ગાભાના ગોદળા, એક ધાબળો.. આમ તો હર્ષદે એમની જે મૂડી ગણાવી તે એક દવાની બાટલી, એક માટલી ને એ ખાટલી.

રામુમા પહેલાં ઘાસચારો કાપી લાવીને લોકોને વેચતા ને વીસ પચીસ રૃપિયા મળે તેમાંથી એ બે ત્રણ દિવસ ચલાવતા. એમણે કહ્યું કે, પાંચ રૃપિયાના બટેકા લાવુ ને બે દિ ચલાવું. આ સાંભળીને જ મન અસ્વસ્થ થઈ ગયેલું. 

ચોમાસામાં તો બહુ તકલીફ પડતી હશે ને? જવાબમાં રામુમાએ કહ્યું, વરસાદ પડે તો હું ભીના ભીના લુગડે પાણી ઉલેચુ. જો પાણી છાપરાંમાંથેથી ન ઉચેલું તો મીણિયું ખાટલા માથે પડે. એમણે આ કહેલું પણ આ કમોસમી વરસાદના લીધે અમે એ સ્થિતિ જોઈ પણ લીધી. 

સ્થિતિ અત્યંત દયાજનક. અમે એમનું ઘર બાંધી આપવા કહ્યું તો એમણે પહેલાં તો ના પાડી અને કહ્યું, એ માટે કેટલા બધા પૈસા થશે...

જરાય લાલચ નહીં.. આવા વ્યક્તિઓ ખુબ ઓછા જોવા મળે. અમે કહ્યું ભલે ખર્ચાય પણ એક ઓરડી કરી દઈએ. ને પછી અમેરીકામાં રહેતા અમારા કિશોર અંકલે (કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ) એમના દિકરા કુશલભાઈની યાદમાં રામુબાને ઘર બનાવી આપવાની કહ્યું. 

ઘર બનતું હતું ત્યારે જોવા ગઈ ત્યારે પુછેલું રામુમા ઘરને કેવો કલર કરવો છે? એ દિવસે મે મરૃણડ્રેસ પહેરેલો તે મારા ડ્રેસનો દુપટ્ટો પકડી કહે મરુણ કરજો.એમની ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે ઘરની બહાર મરૃણ ને અંદર સફેદ રંગ કર્યો. 

ઘરમાં માટલી મૂકવાની હતી ત્યારે અમે ગયા. કાર્યકર હર્ષદ ને એની પત્ની જલપાએ કંસાર રાંધ્યો હતો. આમ  તો એ ખરો દીકરો ઘણું ધ્યાન રાખે રામુમાનું.

કીશોર અંકલનો ઘણો આભાર. એમના દીકરા કુશલભાઈને એમણે આ રીતે જીવંત રાખ્યા. અમે પણ રામુબાના ઘરને કુશલ હોમ એવું નામ આપ્યું.

હવે રામુમાની મુડી એક ખાટલી,એક માટલી ને દવાની એક બાટલી ન રહી. હવે એમનીપાસે સુંદર ઘર છે.

The first time we met the families of the Gadaliya community of Morbi's Charadva, they mentioned their life shrouded in darkness; accomplishing their aspiration to own a home was the light they eagerly awaited. But unfortunately, they have failed to find that light themselves, but gathering funds to make pucca house a reality could not happen.

Gadaliya community are ironsmiths and practice the generations-old traditional occupation of making ironware. Many have advised them to pick up new skills and trades, but the families need more preparation to make that shift. As a result, it is difficult for the current and older generation to learn new skills or invest time in learning those skills. The new generation may work towards honing time-appropriate skills, but the elders have no option but to live within limited means.

VSSM strives to help such homeless families find a permanent address, a pucca home. VSSM's Kanubhai and Chayaben helped gather the required documents and facilitated the application process for these families. Finally, with the support of the respected Prime Minister, the District Collector of Morbi, and the gram panchayat of Charadva village, the 21 families living in Charvada received residential plots. 

After receipt of the plots, the next step was finding funds to build a decent house. The government aid of Rs. 1.32 lacs remains inadequate; we can provide the entire support; however, the owners of the house should also contribute. The families shelled out Rs. 1 lac each, and we provided the rest Rs. 1.25 lacs. The collective contribution would enable build a two bedroom + kitchen + attached sanitation unit for each family. 

Neogan Chemical Ltd. has agreed to support the construction of these homes. Respected Binabahen and Harishbhai Kanani are very sensitive and supportive human beings. "If I had it my way, no one would remain homeless!" Binabahen shares. I call her Maa and am fortunate to receive her warmth and love.

I am grateful to the Kanani family for their support.

The Gadaliya families cannot save and contribute; hence, they have taken a loan of Rs. 1 lac each. "Building a house happens once in a lifetime; the loan can be repaid in instalments, but you cannot build a house in instalments!" a wise community elder shared. 

The upcoming Niyojan Nagar in Charadva will bring light to the lives of Gadaliya families. With the completion of these homes, VSSM would have facilitated the construction of 1500 houses, meaning providing permanent addresses to 1500 families.

I am grateful to every well-wishing individual who has supported this cause.

કોઈ પણ દુઃખ કાયમ હોતું નથી. બસ દુઃખ દૂર થાય તે માટે મહેનત અને એક શ્રદ્ધા માણસ પોતાનામાં રાખે તો એક દિવસ અંધારુ આઘુ ખસે છે ને પછી ચોમર અજવાસ...

મોરબીના ચરાડવામાં રહેતા ગાડલિયા પરિવારોને જ્યારે પહેલીવાર મળ્યા ત્યારે તેમણે જીવતર આખુ  અંધકારમાં જ વીત્યાનું કહ્યું. એમને જે અજવાસ જોઈતો હતો તે ઘરરૃપી. ઘરની ઝંખાના પુર્ણ થાય એ માટે એ મથ્યા ઘણું. પણ બે પૈસા ભેગા ન કરી શક્યા.

લોખંડમાંથી તવી, તાવેતા, ચીમટા બનાવીને વેચવાનું એ કરતા અને એ માટે વિચરણ પણ પેઢીઓથી કરતા આવ્યા.

ઘણા કહે, હવે કાંક નવો ઘંઘો કરો અથવા શીખો.. પણ એ માટેની માનસીક તૈયારી આ પરિવારોની નહીં. અત્યાર સુધી આવું કશું કર્યું જ નહોતું એટલે જુનુ જે કરે એ છોડવા તૈયાર નહીં. આમ પણ નવું શીખવામાં સમય જાય. નવી પેઢી નવુ અપનાવશે પણ જુની પેઢી માટે નવું અપનાવવું મુશ્કેલ. એટલે મર્યાદીત આવકમાં જીવવાનું. આમાં ઘર તો ક્યાંથી થાય.

આવા ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોનું પોતાનું સરનામુ થાય એ માટે અમે મથીએ. અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેને આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળે તે માટે અરજી કરી અને ખૂટતા આધાર પુરાવા પણ કઢાવ્યા. 

આખરે મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી તેમજ કલેક્ટર શ્રી મોરબી, તેમજ ચરાડવા ગ્રામપંચાયતની લાગણીથી ચરાડવામાં રહેતા 21 પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળ્યા. 

પ્લોટ મળ્યા પછી વાત આવી ઘર બાંધવાની. સરકારની સહાય 1.32 લાખમાં ઘર બનવું મુશ્કેલ. અમે મદદ કરીએ પણ જેમનું ઘર બને તે પણ પોતાની રીતે પૈસા કાઢે એવી અમારી લાગણી. આ પરિવારોએ પણ લાખ રૃપિયા કાઢ્યા. અમે 1.25 લાખની મદદ કરી. આમ 3.57 રૃપિયાના ખર્ચે બે રૃમ રસોડુ. ટોયલેટ અને બાથરૃમ વાળુ સરસ ઘર તૈયાર કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. 

આ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામ માટે અમને નિયોજન કેમકલ લી. કંપનીએ મદદ કરી. આદરણયી બીનાબહેન કાનાણી અને હરિશભાઈ કાનાણી બેઉ બહું લાગણીશીલ. બીનાબહેનને તો હું મા કહુ એ લાગણી પણ એવી રાખે. એ કહે, મારુ ચાલે તો એક પણ માણસને હું ઘર વગરનો ન રાખુ.

આવી સુંદર ભાવના રાખનાર કાનાણી પરિવારનો આભાર. 

ગાડલિયા પરિવારો પાસે લાખ રૃપિયા કાઢવાની સગવડ નહીં. એ માટે એમણે અમારી પાસેથી લોન લીધી. પણ એ કહે, ઘર એક વખત થાય. મહેનત કરીશું તો લોન તો કાલ ઉતરી જાશે. પણ વારેવારે ઘરને ઠીગડા નથી દેવાતા.

ચરાડવામાં બંધાઈ રહેલું નિયોજન નગર... જેમાં ગાડલિયા પરિવારો વધુ સુખ પામશે..

તેમની આ વહાલપની વસાહત પૂર્ણ થતા 1500 ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાનો આંકડો પાર કરીશું. 

આ કાર્ય માટે ઘણા સ્વજનોએ મદદ કરી એ માટે સૌની આભારી છું.

“It is our good fortune that Almighty sent Mittalben to us!”

That was a profound statement Gulabbhai made before Kintubhai Gadhvi on camera. Such statements bring a sense of increasing responsibilities.

To be born and live a life as Dafer is a daunting task. The Dafer are hired to protect farm and village boundaries but always denied residency to the village. Under such circumstances 11 Dafer families living at various places in Surendranagar were allotted plots in Dhrangadhra’s Virendragadh, Gulabbhai is one of them.

“Getting a plot in Dhrangadhra has been the best thing. It is place where we will find work and we shall not obstruct anyone with our presence!”

Honestly, it is not this  community but our perception about them that has been an obstruction, not their presence. We are glad that acceptance has grown than earlier. 

Our heartfelt congratulations to Gulabbhai, Ushmanbhai and others who have received plots, their dream of living in a pucca  house will soon become a reality. 

Our Chief Minister has always shown compassion towards the plight of these communities, we respect his concern for these marginalised.  

Surendranagar District Collector and his team have worked hard to provide plots to homeless in the district. We applaud the path-breaking efforts they have put in.

'અમારા નસીબના બેનને માલીકે મેકલ્યા..'

કેવડી મોટી વાત ગુલાબભાઈએ કીંતુભાઈ ગઢવીના કેમેરા સમક્ષ કહી.  મૂળ તો આ બધુ સાંભળુ ત્યારે જવાબદારી વધ્યાનું લાગે... 

ડફેર તરીકે જન્મવું ને જીવવું ઘણું કપરુ.. સીમરખા તરીકે તો સૌ ગામમાં રાખે પણ કાયમી રહેવાની વાત આવે એટલે નકાર..આવામાં સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં અલગ અલગ જગ્યાએ રહેતા 11 ડફેર પરિવારોને ધ્રાંગધ્રાના વીરેન્દ્રગઢમાં રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળ્યા. જેમાં ગુલાબભાઈને પણ એક પ્લોટ મળ્યો.. 

'ઘ્રાંગધ્રામાં વસવાટ થ્યો એ હારામાં હારુ થ્યું બેન.. આયાં નાનુ મોટુ કામેય જડી જાશે ને કોઈને અમારાથી નડતરેય નહીં થાય..'

આમ જુઓ તો નડતર આ સમુદાયની ક્યાં હતી. સમાજ તરીકે આપણે સૌ આ પરિવારોને સ્વીકારી ન શક્યા એની હતી.. 

ખેર પહેલાં કરતાં થોડો સ્વીકારભાવ વધ્યો છે એનો રાજીપો.. 

ગુલાબભાઈ, ઉષ્માનભાઈ જેમને પણ રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાયા તે સૌને અભીનંદન. હવે એમના પાકા ઘરનું સમણું સાકાર થશે.. 

મુખ્યંત્રી શ્રીની લાગણીને પ્રણામ.. તેઓ હંમેશાં આ બધા પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તે માટે સતત ચિંતા કરે. તો સુરેન્દ્રનગર કલેક્ટર શ્રી અને તેમના અધિકારીગણનો આભાર એમણે આ પરિવારો માટે લાગણી રાખી માટે આ કાર્ય થયું.

આ કાર્ય માટે મદદ કરનાર જવેલેક્ષ ફાઉન્ડેશન, આદરણીય શ્રી કીરીટભાઈ શાહ (અમેરીકા) ને અન્ય પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર તેમની મદદથી જ અમારો કાર્યકર હર્ષદ દોડાદોડી કરી શક્યો...તેની તબીયના ઘણા પ્રશ્નો વચ્ચે એણે આ કાર્ય પુર્ણ કર્યું.. આપ સૌનો ઘણો આભાર..

"Since last 10 years we had been coming with you to various offices, we had lost hope that we will ever receive residential plots!! But Tohidbhai did not give up, he continues to run from pillar to post to ensure we are allotted plots. It is these efforts that have brought plots to 120 families. Natukaka was sure he would be dead and turned into ghost before we could set our foot on the plots. I remember once we had gone to see an official who eventually did not turned up. Natukaka removed his shoes before an official, we feared that he might get angry and hit the officer!!"  Natukaka actually  showed the soles of the footwear he was wearing and said, "We have climbed these  steps so many times that many a soles have worn off, atleast now give us plots!"

Bhgabhai Vadi shared the above  while showing us the site they have been allotted plots at. 120 families belonging to nomadic communities residing in Mehsana's Visnagar were recently allotted plots to build a house. VSSM will work with the families to level the land and proceed to build a settlement full of love and warmth. A place to call home for life. A place they will not be forced to vacate. 

VSSM's Tohid and various community leaders remained persistent to ensure allotment of plots. Our Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai is compassionate about the welfare of these communities, it has taken years but his orders helped us obtain the plots.

Similar to the applications of Visnagar, there are many pending applications of families living in settlements across Mehsana district. Hopefully they too are approved at the earliest.

We are grateful to the District Collector and officials of Mehsana. And gratitude towards all our well-wishers who helped us continue to strive through these 10 years.

'અમન ખાલા(રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ) મલશે એવો હાચુ કહું તો ભરોષો નતો.. દસ વરહ નેહરી જ્યાં.. તમારી હારે કચેરીઓ ભટકીન. પણ તોહીદભઈ અન તમે કેડો ના મેલ્યો તે આજ અમન 120 પરિવારોં ન ખાલા મલ્યા.. આ નટુકાકા તો કેતા ક પ્લોટ મલ્યા પેલા મરી જઈશ તો ભૂત થવાનો. એક વાર અમે કચેરીમાં તોહીદભઈ ભેગા જ્યાં. અધિકારી ન મળ્યા. ઇમને અધિકારી હોમે જૂત્તુ કાઢ્યું અમન બીક લાગી ચોક મારી બારી... મુ અન તોહીદભઈ ગભરી જ્યાંતા એટલામોં નટુકાકા બોલ્યા સાહેબ જૂતાની ભાતેય દેખાતી નહિ એટલીવાર આ પગથિયાં ચડ્યા હવ તો પ્લોટ આલો..'

ભગાભાઇ વાદીએ પ્લોટ મળ્યા એ જગ્યા બતાવતા આ લાગણી વ્યક્ત કરી..

પરિવારોને સ્થાઈ સરનામું મળ્યું. જગ્યાને સમતળ કરાવવાનું હવે લોકો સાથે રહી કરીશું. પછી બંધાશે વ્હાલપની વસાહત.

જયાંથી કોઈ એમને ખાલી નહિ કરાવે..

અમારો તોહીદ(કાર્યકર) અને જુદા જુદા સમાજના આગેવાનો આ માટે ઘણું દોડ્યા..

મુખ્યમન્ત્રી વિજયભાઈની લાગણી આ પરિવારો માટે ઘણી એટલે એમની સૂચનાથી કાર્ય ભલે વર્ષો થયા પણ પત્યું ખરું ..

મહેસાણા જિલ્લામાં અસ્થાઈ પડાવોમાં રહેતી વિચરતી જાતિઓની રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટની માંગણી કરતી ઘણી અરજીઓ કચેરીમાં વિસનગરની જેમ વર્ષોથી પડતર છે. આશા છે એ બધા પર ઝટ કાર્યવાહી થાય.

 My work brings me in contact with numerous individuals and families living a life of deficits. And there are some whose pain and poverty shake you to the core. 

The Devipujak families of Ablouaa village stay on government wasteland in shanties made from upcycled tin containers. An encroachment clearance drive had also erased their homes once, right in the middle of chilly winters. And on the same night, there were winter rains. 

It was a heart-wrenching moment when I met these families for the first time, wet and shivering in the bitter cold under the open sky. 

VSSM’s Mohanbhai, Sureshbhai and Dhrmabhai always stood along with these families. They immediately provided relief material, but the resolve now was to find a spot they can call their own. They filed an appeal to the government, obtained all the missing documents. I had pledged to not rest in peace until we have plots for these families. 

Finally, as a result of the sensitivity of District Collector and the District Development Officer and the compassion of our Chief Minister who continuously follows-up on pending matters, 14 families of Ablouaa village received residential plots. 

The years and centuries-old dream of finding a permanent address finally became a reality. And we were so over-joyed as if the plots were allotted to us. 

Our best wishes will always surround these families. We hope all the homeless families receive homes under our Prime Minister’s pledge of Housing for All.

પાટણ વહીવટીતંત્રનો આભાર...

તકલીફમાં ને અભાવમાં રહેતા વિવિધ પરિવારોને નીત મળવાનું થાય.. 

પણ એમાં કેટલાકની તકલીફો આપણને હચમચાવી નાખે તેવી હોય..

પાટણના અબલૌઆગામમાં રહેતા દેવીપૂજક પરિવારો સરકારી જગ્યામાં પતરાનાં ડબ્બા ખુલ્લા કરી તેમાંથી બનાવેલા છાપરાંમાં રહે. 

સરકારી જગ્યામાં દબાણ ખુલ્લુ કરવાનું હોવાથી એકાદ વર્ષ પહેલાં ભર શિયાળે એમના છાપરાં તોડી પડાયેલા. 

છોપરાં તુટ્યા એ ઓછુ હતું તે તેજ દિવસે રાતના વરસાદ પડ્યો.ભયંકર સ્થિતિ એ વેળા નિર્માણ થયેલી. 

સાવ ખુલ્લામાં કકડતી ટાઢમાં ઠરતા આ પરિવારોને હું પહેલીવાર મળી. 

અમારા કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈ, સુરેશ, ધરમાભાઈ તો આ પરિવારોની પડખે સતત ઊભા હોય. તત્કાલ રાહત પહોંચાડવાનું તો કર્યું પણ હવે નિર્ધાર પોતાની માલીકીની જગ્યાનો હતો. સરકારમાં રજૂઆત કરી. ખુટતાં તમામ ડોક્યુમેન્ટ કઢાવ્યા. 

એમને મળી ત્યારે તમને સરનામું નહીં મળે ત્યાં સુધી ઝંપીશું નહીં એવો નિર્ધાર કરેલો.

આખરે કલેક્ટર શ્રી, જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારી તેમજ પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રીની સંવેદનાના લીધે તેમજ આપણા મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીની લાગણી અને તેમના દ્વારા લેવાતા સતત ફોલોઅપથી અબલૌઆના 14 પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાયા..

પોતાના સરનામાંનું વર્ષોનું - આમ તો સદીઓનું સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થયું.. અમને તો જાણે અમને પોતાને જગ્યા મળી હોય એવો હરખ થયો.. 

આ પરિવારોને ઘણી શુભેચ્છા.. આશા રાખીએ ઘરવિહોણા આવા તમામ પરિવારોને આપણા વડાપ્રધાન શ્રીના સ્વપ્ન મુજબ ઘર મળે. ને એ ઘરે ફળે પણ ખરુ...
