“For years, we have stayed in these huts and always aspired for pucca homes, but luck has always eluded us. Even our hands have given up. Any big or small storm alerts us; what if the rouge winds take our roofs along with their fasteners with it. We have spent nights holding on to the fasteners. But now that we have our pucca homes, we would have freedom from such disturbances.”

Daliben earns her livelihood from collecting plastic junk, she and many like her have always dreamt of a pucca house.

VSSM has started building homes for 60 families in Gundala with a significant contribution from First Abu Dhabi Bank. Apart from them, US-based Shri Kiranbhai Shah, Vrushbbhai Modi, Jay Sonawala, Jignesh Vaidya,Vyoma Parikh, Kusum Dalal, Shantilal Nanchandra Kothari Charitable Trust, Dr Alim Adatiya, H. D. Fire Products, Amoliben Shah, Prashant Bhagat, Dr Ashwin Patel, Nisha Butani, Subhashbhai Shah and many have supported the construction of these upcoming settlement.

VSSM is grateful for the support it has received from our well-wishing donors. 

Once the construction of 60 houses completes, we shall begin constructing the other 46 houses.

We wish for each family to have its abode. No one should ever feel that they neither have land to farm nor a house to stay.

Beginning from this project, VSSM has introduced a Sample House the families can come and view to get an idea of the type of house they will soon move in. The 60 families loved what they saw. The shared image shows the construction underway. 

We hope for the accomplishment of the respected Mr Prime Minister’s dream of housing for all. This pledge will allow these families of Gundala to move into pucca homes.

We are thankful to the respected Chief Minister of Gujarat and the district administration of Rajkot for their empathy and support towards these families. On this occasion, we remember  Shri Aal Saheb, the ex-additional collector who has worked tirelessly to make the dream of a home a reality for these families.

“વર્ષો ઝૂંપડામાં રહ્યા. પાક્કા ઘરની ઘણી હોંશ. પણ અમારા નસીબમાં આ બધુ ક્યાં? આ ઝૂંપડાં બાંધી બાંધી ને તો અમારા હાથમાં ફફોલા પડી ગ્યા. વાવાઝોડું આવે કે અમને ફડક પડે. અમારા ઝૂંપડાં ઊડી જાશે તો એ બીકે વાવાઝોડામાં અમે છાપરાં બારા ખીલા હારે બાંધેલી દોરી તુટી ન જાય, ખીલો ઊખડી ન જાય એ હાટુ ખીલા પકડીને બેસી રેતા.  પણ હવે બધી વાતે નિરાંત થવાની.. હવે અમે પાક્કા ઘરવાળા થાશું”

રાજકોટના ગોંડલના ગુંદાળામાં જેમનું ઘર બંધાઈ રહ્યું છે તેવા દલીબહેને આ કહ્યું. દલીબહેન પ્લાસ્ટીક વીણવાનું કામ કરે. એમના ને એમના જેવા ઘણા માટે તો ઘર એ સ્વપ્ન સમાન. 

ગુંદાળામાં અમે 60 પરિવારોના ઘરો બાંધવાનું શરૃ કર્યું છે. એમાં સૌથી મોટો સહયોગ ફસ્ટ આબુ ધાબી બેંકે કર્યો. એ સિવાય કીરણભાઈ શાહ(અમેરીકા), વૃષભભાઈ મોદી, જય સોનાવાલા, જીજ્ઞેશ વૈદ્ય, વ્યોમા પરીખ, કુસુમ દલાલ, શાંતીલાલ નાનચંદ્ર કોઠારી ચેરીટેબલ ટ્રસ્,ટ, ડો. અલીમ અદાતિયા, એચ.ડી.ફાયર પ્રોટેક્ટ, અમોલીબેન શાહ, પ્રશાંત ભગત, ડો. અશ્વિન પટેલ  નિશા બુતાણી, સુભાષભાઈ શાહ વગેરે જેવા કેટલાય પ્રિયજનોએ પણ મદદ કરી. જેના લીધે આ કોલોની બંધાઈ રહી છે. આપ સૌનો ખુબ આભાર..

60 ઘર પૂરા થશે પછી બીજા 46 ઘર બાંધવાનું શરૃ કરીશું.

બસ દરેક વ્યક્તિને પોતાનો માળો મળે અને કોઈ વ્યક્તિ એવું ન કહે કે, અમારી પાસે સીમમાં શેઢો નહીં ને ગામમાં ઘર નહીં..

આપણે ઘર ખરીદવા જઈએ ત્યારે સેમ્પલ હાઉસ પહેલાં જોઈએ તો એવું ગરીબ માણસો માટેના આવાસમાં કેમ નહીં? માટે અમે સેમ્પલ હાઉસ બાંધ્યું. જેને 60 પરિવારો જોઈ ગયા ને એમને એમનું ઘર ખુબ ગમ્યું. 

બંધાઈ રહેલા ઘર તમે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકશો...

આદરણીય વડાપ્રધાન શ્રીનું સ્વપ્ન દરેક વ્યક્તિને ઘર આપવાનું સાકાર થાય તેમ ઈચ્છીએ.. એ સ્વપ્નના લીધે જ આ ઘર વગરના પરિવારો ઘરવાળા થશે. 

રાજકોટ જિલ્લા વહીવટીતંત્ર અને મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીનો આભાર કે એમણે આ પરિવારો માટે લાગણી રાખી પ્લોટ આપ્યા ને ઘર બાંધવા સહાય પણ... 

અને હા ગોંડલના પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રી આલ સાહેબને પણ યાદ કરવા ઘટે. હાલ એ ત્યાં નથી પણ એમની મહેનતથી આ બધુ પાર પડ્યું.

“Look, my child, although we have spent our lives in the shanties, around water,  you will grow up in this beautiful house…” Labhuben, who lives in a hut on the banks of the river in Gondal tells her little girl while showing her an under-construction house in Gundala village.

The nomadic families of Gondal town have spent their lives in shanties built over open spaces on the river banks; the monsoons are worst for these families. Whenever water flows into the river, the families need to vacate their homes and move into government schools. The financial condition is not healthy enough to enable them to buy land to build a house over it.

As a result of our intervention, the government has allotted residential plots to Gondal’s 160 nomadic families in Gundala village. In adition to government aid, VSSM will support the construction of homes for 60 poorest families.

Building each house from scratch costs around Rs. 3 lacs. Apart from government assistance, Abu Dhabi Bank P. J. S. C has been the principal donor for this construction project. Our well-wishing donors have also contributed to the financial support required to build a 1 BHK house with an attached bathroom toilet. In addition, VSSM has envisaged the possible need for more space as the family grows; hence the foundation of each house is strong enough to allow the construction of additional floors when required.

Within the next couple of months, with support from the same donors, we will soon launch the second phase of construction for the other 40 families. Each person dreams of a house, and each family whose homes are under construction will also contribute according to their ability.

There is no greater joy than helping others achieve their dream, and providing security of a  house is the greatest joy there is.

#ગોંડલમાં નદીના પટ પાસે ઝૂંપડ઼ું બાંધી રહેતા લાભુબહેને એમની નાનકીને ગુંદાળાગામમાં પોતાનું પાક્કુ ઘર બંધાઈ રહ્યું તે બતાવતા આ કહ્યું. (એમણે જે કહ્યું એ તમે વિડીયોમાં પણ સાંભળી શકશો. એ બોલતા હતા એ અમારી હિમાલીએ પાછળથી એ રેકોર્ડ કર્યું)

ગોંડલમાં #વિચરતી_જાતિના ઘણા પરિવારો છાપરાં બાંધી ને જ્યાં ત્યાં પડ્યા રહે. દર વર્ષે ચોમાસમાં આ પરિવારોની  દશા માઠી થાય. નદીમાં પાણીનો આવરો વધે કે એમણે ઝૂંપડાં ખાલી કરી સરકારી નિશાળમાં આશરો લેવો પડે. આર્થિક ક્ષમતા એટલી નહીં કે પોતાનું ઘર બાંધવા જમીન ખરીદી શકે અને  એના પર  ઘર બાંધી શકે. 

આવા 160 પરિવારોને ગોંડલથી પાંચ કિ.મી.ના અંતરે આવેલા ગુંદાળા  ગામમાં સરકારે રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા. આ પરિવારોમાંથી સૌથી તકવંચિત એવા 60 પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામમાં સરકારની મકાન સહાય ઉપરાંત ખુટતુ ઉમેરવાનું અમે નક્કી કર્યું.

એક ઘરની કિંમત 3  લાખ  આસપાસની થાય. જેમાં સરકારના પૈસા ઉપરાંત VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા #First_Abu_Dhabi_Bank P.J.S.C. નો મુખ્ય સહયોગ ઉપરાંત અન્ય સ્વજનોનો પણ સહયોગ મળ્યો.

આમ એક રૃમ રસોડુ, #શૌચાલય અને બાથરૃમ સાથેનું મજબૂત ઘર જેમાં ભવિષ્યમાં પરિવારે બીજો માળ બાંધવો હોય તો બાંધી શકે તે પ્રકારનું બાંધવાનું  અમે કર્યું.

લગભગ  બે ત્રણ મહિનામાં બીજા ફેઝમાં 40  પરિવારોના ઘરોનું બાંધકામ  પણ સરકાર અને ઉપર જણાવેલા સ્વજનોની મદદથી શરૃ કરીશું.

ઘર એ  દરેક વ્યક્તિનું સ્વપ્ન.. આ સ્વપ્ન સાકાર કરવામાં જેમનું ઘર બંધાઈ રહ્યું છે એ લોકો પણ પોતોનો નાનકડો ફાળો આપશે.  

અમારા કાર્યકર છાયાબહેન અને કુનભાઈ આ પરિવારોની સાથે સતત. તેમની મહેનતથી જ અન્ય 40 પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફળવાયા. આ અમારા સીવીલ એન્જીનીયીરચિરાગભાઈ પણસતત દેખરેખ રાખે.. 

જેઓ આ પરિવારના ઘરોનું બાંધકામ કરે છે તે લક્ષ્મણભાઈ પણ સેવાભાવી. એ એકદમ  ગુણવત્તાવાળુ બાંધકામ કરી રહ્યા છે.. 

ઘર એ આશરો છે કોઈના પણ માથે પાક્કી છત અપાવામાં નિમિત્ત બનવું  એ  મોટુ સુખ...

2022-23માં 500 પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધી આપવામાં નિમિત્ત બનવું છે.  તમે પણ  આ કાર્યમાં યથા યોગ્ય યોગદાન આપશો તો આભારી રહીશું...

The government recently allotted residential plots to 159  families belonging to nomadic and de-notified communities and living on the wasteland in  Rajkot’s Gondal town. The families will now proceed to plan for the construction of houses over the allotted plots. However, given the current construction rates it is difficult to accomplish construction of a decent house including a sanitation unit in Rs. 1.5 lacs.

Since the beginning, VSSM aids house construction for impoverished families.  On insistence of Rajkot’s Additional Collector Shri  Rameshbhai Aal, VSSM has taken upon itself the responsibility of supporting construction of houses of families who earn their living working as  menial labour or picking trash.

Recently, the support from our well-wishers enabled us perform a ‘Bhoomi Poojan’ at Gundala village where the houses for these 159 families will be constructed.

The Gondal administration and civil society remained on their feet during the occasion. Gondal leads the way as it is for the first time the government and civil society have come together for the cause of providing shelter to the deprived communities.  

Our dear Ujamshibhai has taken up the responsibility of constructing houses for these families, the cost of which is huge. It is the reason we have appealed the civil society to donate generously towards this construction.

Food, Clothing and Shelter; the three primary needs of human survival. While clothing and food can be  easily accomplished these days, shelter/housing remains a distant dream for the numerous impoverished communities. The houses that are constructed on a shoe string budget  do not last beyond few years,  forcing its inhabitants to move back to shanties. Such construction also means  wastage of precious natural resources. A pucca house provides  security blanket to homeless families especially to the women and  young girls who otherwise have hard time saving themselves from prying eyes as street dwellers. VSSM, especially emphasises  on homes for the homeless.

Additional District collector Shri Rajesh Aal, Deputy Director at Department of Social Welfare, Block Development Officer,  Shri Kalpeshbhai,  Chairman Gondal Municipal Corporation  and APMC Gondal and the well-wishing citizens of Gondal remained present at the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony. Thank you all for your presence.

The government has provided land and aid to construct houses, but  the amount needed to build a strong and long lasting house is being mobilised from VSSM’s well-wishers. VSSM is grateful to all of you for  supporting the cause.  It is a long list of donors, hence not mentioning it here, but we are glad to have your support and encouraging others to be a part of this effort.  As a result of your help a beautiful and cherished settlement will soon being to  take form. 

ભૂમીપૂજન..

વિચરતી જાતિના અસ્થાયી પડાવોમાં રહેતા પરિવારોમાંના રાજકોટના ગોંડલમાં રહેતા 159 પરિવારોને કાયમી સરનામુ આપવાનું સરકારની મદદથી થયું.

પ્લોટ મળ્યા હવે વાત આવી ઘર બાંધવાની. આજની મોંઘવારીમાં દોઢ લાખમાં સેનીટેશન યુનીટ સાથેનું ટકાઉ ઘર બાંધવું શક્ય નહીં. 

અમે વર્ષોથી આ પરિવારોમાંના નબળી સ્થિતિ ધરાવતા પરિવારોને ઘર બાંધકામમાં આર્થિક મદદ કરીએ. તે ગોંડલમાં પ્રાંત કલેકટર શ્રી રાજેશભાઈ આલના આગ્રહને લીધે ભંગાર વીણી જીવતા તો કેટલાક છુટક મજૂરી કરી જીવતા પરિવારોને ઘર બાંધી આપવાનું અમે માથે લીધું. 

જ્યાં ઘર બાંધવાના છે તે ગુંદાડાગામની જમીન પર આ પરિવારો માટે લાગણી રાખનાર સૌ સ્નેહીજનોની મદદથી ભૂમીપૂજન કર્યું.

ગોંડલનું વહીવટીતંત્ર ને ગોંડલના સુખી ને સમજણા માણસો આ કાર્યમાં ખડેપગે. વંચિતોના ઘર બંધાતા હોય ત્યાં સમાજ ને સરકારનો આવો સરસ સુયોગ ખાસ જોયો નથી પણ ગોંડલ એ રીતે નોખુ ને સૌને શીખ આપનારુ.

અમારા ઊજમશીભાઈએ આ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાનું માથે લીધું. ખર્ચ ખાસો મોટો છે. એટલે સમાજને મદદ માટે આહવાન કર્યું છે. 

રોટી, કપડાં ઔર મકાન માણસની પ્રાથમિક જરૃરિયાત. આજે કપડાં ને રોટી લગભગ માણસ મેળવી લે. પણ મકાન કરવું એ ગરીબ માણસ માટે બહુ મશ્કેલ. ઓછા ખર્ચમાં ઘર થાય પણ એ મજબૂત ન થાય ને પાંચ સાત વર્ષમાં ઘર જર્જરીત ને પરિવાર પાછો છાપરાંમાં. આમાં કુદરતી સંસાધનનો બગાડ પણ ઘણો થાય. વળી ઘર એ સુરક્ષા આપે છે ખાસ તો બાળકો ને જુવાન દીકરીઓને...એટલે ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તેને અમે મહત્તા આપીએ.

ભૂમીપૂજન કાર્યક્રમાં પ્રાંત કલેકટર શ્રી રાજેશ આલ, નાયબ નિયામક શ્રી સમાજકલ્યાણ, મામલતદાર શ્રી, તાલુકા વિકાસ અધિકારી શ્રી, ગોંડલ નગરપાલિકા તેમજ ગોંડલ એપીએમસીના ચેરમેન કલ્પેશભાઈ તેમજ ગોંડલના વંચિતો માટે લાગણી રાખનાર સૌ સ્નેહીજનો ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા. આપ સૌનો ઘણો આભાર. 

સરકારે કિંમતી જમીન ને મકાન બાંધવા સહાય આપી.. પણ મજબૂત ઘર માટે જરૃરી વધારે ઘનરાશી VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્નેહીજનો થકી મળી રહી છે. મદદ કરનાર આપ સૌનો ઘણો આભાર. નામાવલી લાંબી છે માટે નામ નથી લખતી પણ તમે સૌ આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરી રહ્યા છો ને અન્યોને મદદ માટે પ્રોત્સાહીત કરી રહ્યા છો એનો રાજીપો છે.. 

આપ સૌના સક્રિય સહયોગથી ટૂંક સમયમાં વગડામાંથી વહાલપની વસાહત નિર્માણ પામશે...

હાલ આ પરિવારો જે સ્થિતિમાં રહે છે તેના ફોટા પણ સમજવા ખાતર...

“We perform a puja whilst laying foundation of our houses, all of us including  our forefathers had longed for a performing that but their dreams could not turn into reality. Thanks to the organisation and government, we are able to perform this puja today!”

Kedapji Salat and his fellow community members shared the above when the foundation stones of their homes were laid at Virendragadh village in Surendranagar’s Dhrangadhra.

18 families have been allotted residential plots and 6 of them have received the first instalment towards house construction. The families performed a puja (ground breaking ceremony) before they initiated construction over them.

This time I was also made part of their celebration, it makes me grateful for the immense affection and warmth I receive from these families.   

VSSM will provide an assistance of Rs. 50,000 to each family to enable them complete the construction

Once again, it is the persistent support from our well-wising donors that will enable this settlement come to life.

You also can become instrumental is helping a family realise its dream of a home.

Shri K Rajesh, District Collector of Surendranagrar ensured the families are allotted the plots and our Harshadbhai and Gorakhnath remained persistent in their efforts.

'અમારા ઘરના પાયા પુરાય ને અમે એ વેળા પૂજા કરીએ. આ અભરખા તો અમે ને અમારા ઘૈડિયાના ઘૈડિયા બધાયે રાખ્યા.  પણ અમારી પેઢીઓના આ સ્વપ્નો ક્યારેય પૂર્ણ ન થયા..

પણ જુઓ સંસ્થા ને સરકારના પ્રતાપે આજે અમે અમારા ઘરના પાયા પુરવાની પૂજા કરી હક્યા...'

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના ધ્રાંગધ્રાના વિરેન્દ્રગઢમાં રહેતા ખેડપજી ને તેમની સાથેના અન્ય સલાટોએ આ કહ્યું..

કુલ 18 પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફળવાયા એમાંથી 6ને મકાન સહાયનો પ્રથમ હપ્તો મળ્યો. તે હવે એના ઉપર ઘર બાંધવાનું શરૃ કરતા પહેલાં પૂજા કરી..

આ પૂજા કરવાનો મને પણ અવસર મળ્યો.. તેમના લખલૂટ પ્રેમ માટે આભાર. 

મકાન બાંધવા પ્રત્યેક પરિવારને 50,000ની મદદ VSSM વતી કરીશું.

સમાજમાં બેઠેલા સંસ્થાના કાર્યોમાં સદાય સાથે રહેનાર સૌ પ્રિયજનોની મદદથી એક નવી વહાલપની વસાહત બનશે...

આવા એક વ્યક્તિનું ઘર બાંધવામાં તમે પણ નિમિત્ત બની શકો...

 “Ben is it true that our Prime Minister  will help build a house to those who do not have land to build a house, are living under hunts and shanties like us?”

“Yes, by 2022 poor and needy families with no housing facilities will be given a house, this is a dream our Prime Minister wants to turn into a reality!”

“We have been living in Kanjoda for years, the land we stay on is government’s but we have not been allotted any plots by the government. Our settlement does not have power, you must have seen the roads while on your way here.  The road from Kanjoda village to our settlement is in ruins. The village has RCC roads while we don’t even have tar roads. We are 200 families living here and you are the first one to come and ask our well-being. No one care if we live or die!!

Kamleshbhai, a resident of a settlement near Kheda’s Kanjoda village of Nadiad block spoke with all honesty, while the fellow residents affirmed what he said. The living conditions of these  Devipujak and Raval families go from bad to worst during the monsoons.

The District Collector of Kheda is a very compassionate being, he had great respect for the work we do for the nomadic and de-notified communities.  When we discussed the challenges the communities face in Kheda, he immediately instructed his team to resolve the issues of power, ration card etc.

The allotment of residential plots too shall happen because along with the Collector, our Chief Minister is also committed to the cause of Housing for All. The only concern is the delay in the entire process our request to the authorities is to iron these delays and process the applications of these families that VSSM has helped file. It is time the fruits of freedom reach these and all the families in need. The road leading to the settlement  also  should be built.

VSSM’s Rajnibhai has helped identify these families, fill their forms and file applications with the concerned government departments. And youth like Kamleshbahi have helped with this entire processes.

We are grateful for the support you have provided, it is the reason we can work towards ensuring the families receive benefits of the government’s welfare programmes designed for the development of these families.

'અમે સાંભળ્યું છે કે, જેમની પાસે રહેવા પોતાની માલીકીનો પ્લોટ ન હોય, અમારી જેમ ઝૂંપડાં કે ઈંટ માટીમાંથી બનાવેલા કાચા છાપરાંમાં જે રહેતા હોય એ બધાને આપણા #પ્રધાનમંત્રી ઘર બનાવી આપવાના. તે હે બેન એ સાચુ છે?'

'હા 2022 સુધીમાં આપણા જેવી સ્થિતિમાં રહેતા તમામ વંચિતોના ઘર થશે.. પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રીએ આ સ્વપ્ન સેવ્યુ છે'

'અમે #કંજોડામાં વર્ષોથી રહીએ. ગામની આ જમીન સરકારી છે પણ અમને લોકોને આજ સુધી પ્લોટ જડ્યા નથી.. ના લાઈટની કોઈ સુવિધા અમારી વસાહતમાં છે. તમે રસ્તો જોયો. કંજોડાગામમાંથી અમારી વસાહત સુધીનો રસ્તો કેવો બિસ્માર છે. આખા ગામમાં આર.સી.સી. રોડ બન્યા પણ અમારા સુધી ડામરનો રોડેય પહોંચ્યો નથી.. અમે 200 પરિવારો છીએ અહીંયા પણ આ તમે પહેલાં આવ્યા અમારી હંભાળ લેવા. બાકી અમે જીવીએ કે મરીએ કોઈને અમારી પડી નથી..'

#ખેડા જિલ્લાના #નડિયાદના કંજોડામાં રહેતા કમલેશભાઈએ આ વાત કરી ને વસાહતના સૌએ તેમાં સુર પુરાવ્યો. 

#દેવીપૂજક અને #રાવળ પરિવારો અહીંયા રહે. ચોમાસામાં તો એમની સ્થિતિ ખુબ કપરી થાય.ખેડા કલેક્ટર શ્રી ખુબ ભલા માણસ. વિચરતી જાતિઓના કાર્યો માટે એમને ઘણી લાગણી. એમની મળીને ખેડાના વંચિતોની સ્થિતિ અંગે વાત કરી. તેમણે વીજળી, રાશનકાર્ડના પ્રશ્નો તો તત્કાલ ઉકેલવાની સૂચના સંલગ્ન વિભાગને આપી દેવા કહ્યું.

મૂળ પ્રશ્ન રહેવા પોતાની માલીકીના પ્લોટનો છે. એ પણ ઉકેલાશે. કલેક્ટર શ્રીની સાથે સાથે મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીની લાગણી પણ છે.. એટલે કાર્ય થવું જ જોઈએ. પણ હવે વાર ન લાગે એ એક જ વિનંતી.. VSSM એ આ પરિવારોની અરજી ક્યારનીયે કરી દીધી છે. બસ હવે આઝાદીના ફળ આ લોકો સુધી પહોંચવા જ જોઈએ ને સાથે વસાહત સુધી રોડની સુવિધા પણ... 

અમારા કાર્યકર રજનીભાઈએ આ પરિવારોને શોધી તેમની અરજીઓ-દરખાસ્ત સરકાર સુધી પહોંચાડવાનું કર્યું.. તો વસાહતના કમલેશભાઈ જેવા યુવાનોએ પણ એમાં સહકાર આપ્યો.. 

સરકારની #કલ્યાણકારી યોજનાઓ વંચિતો સુધી પહોંચાડવામાં મદદરૃપ થનાર અમારા સ્નેહીજનોનો આભાર.. આપની મદદથી જ અમે આવા પરિવારોને શોધી શકીએ છીએ..

“When will we have our homes?”

The government had given 70 of our families Rs. 45,000 for construction of houses. We also received the first instalment of Rs. 25,000. A local we knew promised to construct beautiful houses for us and we gave him all the money we had received. But, the quality of his work was shoddy. It was so weak this even a small push would bring down the walls. How can we live under such poor structures? The families collectively lost Rs. 17,50,000 (Rs. 25,000x 70). We were clueless on finding remedies to resolve this issue, had lost hope of living in a pucca house. We earn our living from working as agriculture labour and when that is not available during the lean season we are required to beg. How were we supposed to build a house under such circumstances? By God’s grace, all of you came to our rescue to help us build houses with a proper roof above. May God Bless you!!”

Bhagaba, the Fulvadi community leader from Banaskantha’s Kankar village of Kakrej block was beaming with joy when he shared the above with us.

The land allotted to these families was uneven and some part of it was on lower grounds. 58 houses were on even land and the construction of one house was to cost Rs. 1.35 lacs while the land for 32 houses was on lower grounds. The houses here needed special provisions to protect them from soil sliding. The foundation design too had to be different as per the soil testing results. As a result, the construction cost of each of these houses spiralled up to Rs. 2.60 lacs.

20 families were to receive Rs. 1.20 lacs from the government but 70 would receive only Rs. 20,000. VSSM was required to mobilize additional funds for these families.

VSSM appealed its well-wishing friends to support these 70 families and it received a very positive response. 58 houses have already been built,  while construction is ongoing for 32 of them.

We will also be constructing sanitation unit for 58 houses.

The families who have always embraced the elements by living under the open sky on a bed of open earth hold a different kind of value for a house. These families are first-generation homeowners.

The support VSSM’s well-wishers have provided will enable us to provide decent houses to 70 families. We pray to almighty to bless them with peace and happiness, to help them cherish these homes and bring an end to their wandering.

The Vadi-Madari were the snake charmers in the past. Their traditional occupation came to an abrupt end with the enforcement of Wildlife Protection Act. The Kakar settlement will be ideal in terms of efforts to rehabilitate and settle these community. We also have a residential facility coming up here for the education of their children. Someday, I shall talk about all that we have been doing in Kankar with these Vadi-Madari families.

 વગડાંમાંથી વહાલપની વસાહત

‘અમારા ઘર કે’દી થાશે? 

સરકારે અમારા 70 પરિવારોને મકાન બાંધવા રૃપિયા 45,000 આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું ને પહેલો હપ્તો 25,000નો મળ્યો. એ પછી સ્થાનીક એક ભાઈએ આ રકમમાંથી સરસ ઘર બાંધી આપવાનું અમને કહ્યું ને અમે એમને પૈસા આપ્યા. પણ એમણે સાવ રદી કામ કર્યુ. સરખો ધક્કો મારીએ તો મકાન તુટી પડે એવું. આવામાં રહેવું કેમ? 70 જણાના 25,000 લેખે 17,50,000 અમે ખોઈ બેઠા. શું કરવુંની મૂંઝવણ હતી. સાચુ કહુ તો મકાન થશેની આશા જ અમે તો છોડી દીધી’તી. અમે ખેતમજૂરી કરીએ અને મજૂરી ન મળે ત્યારે ના છુટકે ભીક્ષા માંગીએ આવામાં પૈસા ભેગા કરીને ઘર બાંધવાનું તો અમારાથી થાય જ નહીં.. પણ તમે બધાએ ભેગા મળીને જુઓ કેવા સરસ ધાબાવાળા મકાન કરી દીધા.. અમે આવા ઘરો ક્યારેય બનાવી શક્યા ન હોત.. તમારા બધાનું ભલુ થાજો...’

58 ઘર સમતળ જમીનમાં. ત્યાં એક ઘરના બાંધકામનો ખર્ચ રૃપિયા 1,35,000 ને 32 ઘર ખાડાવાળી જમીનમાં. વળી આ જમીન ધસે આથી ત્યાં પાઈલીંગ કરીને બાંધકામ કરવું પડે. અમે સોઈલ ટેસ્ટ કરાવી તેના પાયાની ડીઝાઈન નોખી કરાવી આમ 32 ઘરમાંથી પ્રત્યેક ઘર બાંધકામની કિંમત રૃપિયા 2,60,000 આવી. 

20 પરિવારોને સરકારમાંથી 1,20,000 પ્રમાણે મદદ મળવાની જ્યારે 70ને તો 20,000 જ મળવાના આમ અમારા ભાગે મોટી રકમ એકત્રીત કરવાનું આવ્યું.

VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા પ્રિયજનો પાસે 90 પરિવારોના સુંદર ઘર બને તે માટે હાકલ નાખીને સમાજે સહયોગ કર્યો. 58 ઘર પૂર્ણ થઈ ગયા ને 32નું બાંધકામ ચાલુ છે...

58 ઘરોના સેનીટેશન યુનીટનું બાંધકામ પણ અમે પૂર્ણ કર્યું. બાકીનાનું પણ પૂર્ણ કરીશું..

ઘરનું મુલ્ય ઉપર આભ ને નીચે ધરતીનું પાથરણું પાથરીને રહેનાર માણસ પાસે બેસીએ તો વધુ સમજાશે... જેમના ઘર અમે બાંધી રહ્યા છીએ તેમની આ પહેલી પેઢી જે પોતાના પાકા ઘરમાં રહેવા જવાની.. 

VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા પ્રિયજનોની મદદથી અમે 90 વાદી પરિવારોના ઘરનું સમણું પુરુ કરી શક્યા.. આ ઘરોમાં આ પરિવારોને ખુબ બરકત મળે ને તેમના રઝળપાટને હવે સ્થિરતા પ્રાપ્ત થાય તેવું વાતાવરણ નિર્માણ કરવા કુદરતને પ્રાર્થના...

સાપના ખેલ કરીને પેટિયું રળતા વાદી- મદારીનો પરંપરાત ધંધો સાવ બંધ થઈ ગયો છે. આ આખા જનસમૂહના પુનઃવસન માટે પણ પ્રયત્ન કરવો છે ને એ માટે કાકરની વાદી વસાહત અમારા માટે પ્રયોગશાળા છે. જ્યાં બાળકોના ભણતરથી લઈને મોટેરાઓને રોજી મળે તે માટે પ્રયત્નો કરવાના છે.. અહીંયા અમે ઘણું કરી રહ્યા છે ફરી ક્યારેક એની વાત પણ કરીશું...

બાકી જે ઘરો બન્યા તે અને આ પરિવારો કેવી હાલતમાં રહેતા ને ત્યાંથી હવે કેવા ઘરમાં જશે એ ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય..

 “Ben, look at us, look at the challenges we have to encounter in our daily lives. There is no privacy to bathe or attend nature’s call in the middle of this bustling city space. There is no potable water or power in the shanties we live in.  We have always cursed our birth, the land we stay on is also someone else’s so it is either the people or the government who require us to vacate and move to another vacant spot.  Life was nothing but aimless wandering until you came in and worked to help us get plots. And we now have homes coming up..”

Dungarbhai, Jeevabhai, Kanuben shared this with great joy. They and many other families living in Rajkot but now will be moving to Ramparabeti after the allotment of plots have received Rs. 1.20 lacs each for the construction of houses.

The families have received funds for the construction of houses but Rs. 1.20 is too less of an amount to build a home under the ongoing construction rates. As we always say, these families are the first generation homeowners, none of their ancestors has ever lived in a pucca house. “We will be the first in our 71 generations to live in such a house!!” they always announce. Hence, it is natural they want to build a beautiful house within their means. The construction cost of each of these house comes to Rs. 2.25 to 2.35 lacs because part of the allotted land is low-lying and levelling it will add up to the cost.

The effort now is to rope in the remaining amount. The families can pitch in Rs, 20,000 by working for the construction of their own house and be paid under MNREGA. But the documents they hold are from Rajkot and need to be transferred to Ramparabeti. If the administration speeds up the allotment process their voter id cards, Adhar Card, Ration card could be transferred.

The economic condition of these families is very weak so contributing anything more is challenging for them. The house also needs to be best for their needs so there can be no compromise on that hence, we decided to help each family with Rs. 55,000 and a sanitation unit. The families can receive government benefit for sanitation units but they need the documents issued from Ramparabeti. The families needed to contribute Rs. 40,000. Since the families did not have that amount, they requested a loan from VSSM with a promise to pay it as soon as possible. Considering their financial condition we have sanctioned the loans.

In the first phase, with the help from our well-wishing donors, we shall provide support of Rs. 37,40,000 (does not include the loan) to 68 families.

WASMO  will be helping with the construction of a water tank and this too will include community participation. The tank will cost Rs. 14 lacs  10% of which the community needs to contribute. This too was a difficult proposition for the community. We shared this with our dear friend Piyushbhai Kothari who sent Rs. 1.40 lacs towards the tank construction. The families are spending Rs. 800 daily for water so that the construction can continue but this is very expensive to sustain.

Respected Shi Krishnakant Mehta (Uncle) and Indiraben (Auntie)  who are extremely compassionate towards the nomadic communities have contributed the most for the construction of these houses.  Apart from the  Lions Club of Shahibaug, Lions Club of Samvedna, Shri Rashmikantbhai and Kumudben Shah, Shri. Ulhasbhai Paymaster, Shri Saroj Maniar, Shri. Rashi Kishor Gaba and other well-wishers have donated to the cause. It would have been impossible to accomplish this task without your support.

The settlement needed power connection to aid the construction process. Our dear Nilesh Munshi ensured that our application to PGVCL did not meet delays.

Our team members Chayaben and Kanubhai have tirelessly worked for these families, so have the community leaders Dungarbhai, Jivabhai and others.

We are thankful to the government officials for their support in this endeavour.

The amount of efforts everyone has put in will help this settlement become an ideal one in the region,  with  solar-powered lights, some kind of public education system for kids, livelihood opportunites  for all… we have big dreams hope the universe conspires to accomplish them.

રાજકોટના રામપરા બેટીમાં વિચરતી જાતિની વગડાંમાંથી વહાલપની વસાહત..

'અમે કેવામાં પડ્યા છીએ. ના પીવા પાણી મળે ના વીજળી. શહેર વચાળે ઝૂંપડાં બાંધી રહીએ બેન. આમાં નાહવા-ધોવાનું ને બહાર જવાનું કેમ થાય? બહુ વિપદા હતી. અમને થતું બળ્યો આ અવતાર જ નકામો. રાજકોટ આજુબાજુ વર્ષોથી ઝૂંપડાં બાંધી રહીએ પણ એતો રૃમાલ મુકેલી જગ્યા. ક્યાંક લોકો તો ક્યાંક સરકાર ખાલી કરાવે તો લબાચા લઈને બીજે.. જીવતરમાં નકરો રઝળપાટ... પણ તમે અમારી વહારે આવ્યા. અમને રહેવા પ્લોટ મળ્યા. ને જુઓ હવે ઘર પણ કેવા બંધાય છે...'

રાજકોટમાં રહેતા ને હવે રામપરાબેટીમાં સરકારે રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા ને મકાન બાંધકામ માટે 1.20 લાખ જેમને આપ્યા તેમાંના ડુંગરભાઈ, જીવાભાઈ, કાનુબહેન વગેરે એ હરખ સાથે આ વાત કહી..

પ્લોટ ને મકાન સહાય તો મળી પણ એટલી રકમમાંથી ઘર ન બને. વળી પાછું એમની 71 પેઢીમાં આ પહેલાં હતા જેમના ઘર બનાવાના હતા. એટલે મજબૂત અને સુંદર ઘરની હોંશ પણ સૌને ખરી. અમે અંદાજ કઢાવ્યો. તો 2.25 થી લઈને 2.35 લાખ સુધીનો અંદાજ એક ઘરનો આવ્યો. મૂળ તો કેટલાક ઘર ખાડામાં હોવાના કારણે આ અંદાજ એક સરખો નહીં. 

હવે 1.20 પછી બાકીની રકમ કેમ કાઢવી. મનરેગામાં પોતાના ઘરમાં મજૂરી કરે તો 20,000 મળે પણ આ બધા પરિવારોના કાગળિયા રાજકોટથી રામપરાબેટીમાં તબદીલ થયા નથી. તંત્રનો સહયોગ મળે છે. પણ એ લોકો થોડી વધુ મદદ કરે તો આધાર, રાશનકાર્ડ ને બધુ અહીંનું થઈ જાય. અને આ રકમ પણ મળી જાય બાકી...

વળી આ પરિવારોની સ્થિતિ નબળી એ લોકો પોતાની રીતે ખુટતી રકમ કાઢી ન શકે. પાછુ ઘર બાંધકામમાં નબળુ એમને કે અમારે ચલાવવું નહીં. છેવટે અમે નક્કી કર્યું પ્રત્યેક ઘરને 55,000ની મદદ કરવાની, સાથે શૌચાલય પણ બાંધી આપવા પ્રયત્ન કરીશું. સરકારની મદદ આમાં પણ મળે પણ મૂળ પ્રશ્ન રામપરા બેટીમાં ડોક્યુમેન્ટ તબદીલીનો..આ પરિવારોના ભાગે 40,000 કાઢવાના આવ્યા. તેમની પાસે આ મૂડી નહીં. એમણે VSSM પાસેથી લોન માંગી ધીમે ધીમે ચુકવી દઈશું પણ અમારુ ઘર થઈ જાય ને... અમે એમની આ ભાવના સમજીએ એટલે લોન આપવાનું પણ કર્યું.

હાલ 68 પરિવારોને 37,40,000ની મદદ પ્રથમ તબક્કામાં vssm સાથે સંકળાયેલા પ્રિયસ્વજનોની મદદથી કરીશું. અને હા લોનની રકમ જુદી..

આ સિવાય વસાહતમાં પીવાના પાણીની તકલીફ. વાસ્મોએ પાણીનો ટાંકો લોકભાગીદારીથી બનાવી આપવા કહ્યું. 14 લાખનો ખર્ચ ને દસ ટકા વસાહતના લોકોએ ભરવાના. ક્યાંથી ભરે? અમારા પ્રિયજન પિયુષભાઈ કોઠારી સાથે વાત કરીને અમણે 1.40 મોકલી આપ્યા. 

હાલ રોજના 800 લેખે વેચાતુ પાણી લાવીએ.. જેથી બાંધકામ થઈ શકે. પણ આ બધુ કેટલું મોંધુ થાય..

ઘર બાંધકામમાં આદણીય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત મહેતા (અંકલ) અને ઈન્દિરાબેન(આંટી)એ સૌથી મોટી મદદ કરવાનું સ્વીકાર્યું. આ બેઉની લાગણી આ પરિવારો સંસ્થાના કાર્યો માટે ઘણી.. આ સિવાય લાયન્સ કલ્બ ઓફ શાહીબાગ, લાયન્સ કલ્બ ઓફ સંવેદના, શ્રી રશ્મીકાંતભાઈ અને કમુદબેન શાહ, શ્રી ઉલ્હાસભાઈ પેમાસ્ટર, શ્રી સરોજ મણિયાર, શ્રી રાશી કીશોર ગબા વગેરે પ્રિયજનોની મદદ મળી. આપ સૌએ મદદ ન કરી હોત તો આ કાર્ય પાર પડવું જાણે અસંભવ જ હતું.

વસાહતમાં લાઈટની સુવિધા ઘર બાંધકામ માટે જરૃરી અમે PGVCLમાં અરજી કરી. ને વિજળી ઝડપથી વસાહત સુધી પહોંચે એ માટે મદદ કરી પ્રિય નિલેશ મુનશીએ..

અમારા કાર્યકર છાયાબહેન ને કનુભાઈ થાક્યા વગર આ પરિવારોના સુખ દુઃખમાં સાથે રહે ને એમને સાથ આપે વસાહતના આગેવાન ડુંગરભાઈ, જીવાભાઈ વગેરે.. 

પ્લોટ અને મકાન બાંધકામ માટે સહાય આપનાર સરકારનો, અધિકારગણનો ઘણો આભાર..

આપ સૌની મહેનત, સાથ માટે રાજીપો વ્યક્ત કરુ છું.

આશા રાખીએ આ વિસ્તારની આ એક આદર્શ વસાહત બને જેમાં સોલારનો ઉપયોગ, બાળકોના ભણતરની સરસ વ્યવસ્થા ને સૌને કામ મળે તે માટેની વ્યવસ્થા... સપનાં ઘણા છે કુદરત તે પૂર્ણ કરશે તેવી શ્રદ્ધા છે... 

આ પરિવારોને જ્યારે પ્લોટ મળ્યા તે વેળા સૌએ સાથે મળીને ખેંચાવેલી તસવીર બાકી જેમના ઘર બંધાઈ રહ્યા છે તેમની હાલની સ્થિતિને બંધાઈ રહેલા ઘર બધુયે ફોટોમાં..

 My work brings me in contact with numerous individuals and families living a life of deficits. And there are some whose pain and poverty shake you to the core. 

The Devipujak families of Ablouaa village stay on government wasteland in shanties made from upcycled tin containers. An encroachment clearance drive had also erased their homes once, right in the middle of chilly winters. And on the same night, there were winter rains. 

It was a heart-wrenching moment when I met these families for the first time, wet and shivering in the bitter cold under the open sky. 

VSSM’s Mohanbhai, Sureshbhai and Dhrmabhai always stood along with these families. They immediately provided relief material, but the resolve now was to find a spot they can call their own. They filed an appeal to the government, obtained all the missing documents. I had pledged to not rest in peace until we have plots for these families. 

Finally, as a result of the sensitivity of District Collector and the District Development Officer and the compassion of our Chief Minister who continuously follows-up on pending matters, 14 families of Ablouaa village received residential plots. 

The years and centuries-old dream of finding a permanent address finally became a reality. And we were so over-joyed as if the plots were allotted to us. 

Our best wishes will always surround these families. We hope all the homeless families receive homes under our Prime Minister’s pledge of Housing for All. 

We are grateful for the support of our well-wishers and authorities. 

પાટણ વહીવટીતંત્રનો આભાર...

તકલીફમાં ને અભાવમાં રહેતા વિવિધ પરિવારોને નીત મળવાનું થાય.. 

પણ એમાં કેટલાકની તકલીફો આપણને હચમચાવી નાખે તેવી હોય..

પાટણના અબલૌઆગામમાં રહેતા દેવીપૂજક પરિવારો સરકારી જગ્યામાં પતરાનાં ડબ્બા ખુલ્લા કરી તેમાંથી બનાવેલા છાપરાંમાં રહે. 

સરકારી જગ્યામાં દબાણ ખુલ્લુ કરવાનું હોવાથી એકાદ વર્ષ પહેલાં ભર શિયાળે એમના છાપરાં તોડી પડાયેલા. 

છોપરાં તુટ્યા એ ઓછુ હતું તે તેજ દિવસે રાતના વરસાદ પડ્યો.ભયંકર સ્થિતિ એ વેળા નિર્માણ થયેલી. 

સાવ ખુલ્લામાં કકડતી ટાઢમાં ઠરતા આ પરિવારોને હું પહેલીવાર મળી. 

અમારા કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈ, સુરેશ, ધરમાભાઈ તો આ પરિવારોની પડખે સતત ઊભા હોય. તત્કાલ રાહત પહોંચાડવાનું તો કર્યું પણ હવે નિર્ધાર પોતાની માલીકીની જગ્યાનો હતો. સરકારમાં રજૂઆત કરી. ખુટતાં તમામ ડોક્યુમેન્ટ કઢાવ્યા. 

એમને મળી ત્યારે તમને સરનામું નહીં મળે ત્યાં સુધી ઝંપીશું નહીં એવો નિર્ધાર કરેલો.

આખરે કલેક્ટર શ્રી, જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારી તેમજ પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રીની સંવેદનાના લીધે તેમજ આપણા મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીની લાગણી અને તેમના દ્વારા લેવાતા સતત ફોલોઅપથી અબલૌઆના 14 પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાયા..

પોતાના સરનામાંનું વર્ષોનું - આમ તો સદીઓનું સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થયું.. અમને તો જાણે અમને પોતાને જગ્યા મળી હોય એવો હરખ થયો.. 

આ પરિવારોને ઘણી શુભેચ્છા.. આશા રાખીએ ઘરવિહોણા આવા તમામ પરિવારોને આપણા વડાપ્રધાન શ્રીના સ્વપ્ન મુજબ ઘર મળે. ને એ ઘરે ફળે પણ ખરુ...

Mittal Patel visits Sherkhanbhai's house in benap

 “I took this house, postponing the marriage of my young daughter, to preserve your honor. Isn't your soul happy to see the house?”

The Lions Club of Shahibaug gave Rs 50,000 to each of the twelve families including Sherkhanbhai to build a house in Benap. We know that a house cannot be built in fifty thousands rupees.. But if the person himself adds money, the fun of living in that house will be much more.

We said at the time, “Take time but build a nice house”.

Sherkhanbhai, Mashruba, Chhatrabhai sold the plastic pots and buckets and saved each single rupee at a time to make a nice house as seen in the photo.

However, in the meanwhile, when he got tired, we did a little help of seven thousand again. While helping on that, We said again, 'If you don't finish the house, no one will trust us and no one else will give you help in future.”

He understood this very well .. He spent about three lakhs in one house and built a nice house.

When I went to Benap, he held my hand and took me to his house. He showed how he has built and decorated the house.  Love to all these families ..

We always thank all the supporters. But these families paid the value of our trust.

વાત બેણપથી...

'તમારુ મોન જળવાય એ હાતર મારી જુવાન છોડીના લગન કરવાનું હાલ મોડી વાળીન્ મીએ આ ઘર કીધુ. તમારો આતમા ઘર જોઈન રાજી થ્યો ક નઈ?' 

બેણપમાં રહેતા શેરખાનભાઈ ને એમના જેવા બીજા 12 પરિવારને ઘર બાંધવા માટે લાયન્સ ક્લબ ઓફ શાહીબાગે પ્રત્યેક પરિવારને પચાસ હજાર આપેલા. અમે જાણીએ પચાસ હજારમાં ઘર ન બંધાય. પણ વ્યક્તિ પોતે પણ પૈસા ઉમેરે તો એ ઘરમાં રહેવા જવાની મજા જ કાંઈ ઔર થઈ જાય..

અમે એ વેળા કહેલું, 'સમય લેજો પણ ઘર સરસ બાંધજો'તે શેરખાનભાઈ, મશરૃબા, છતરાભાઈએ તો પ્લાસ્ટીકના તબકડાં ને ડોલો વેચી એક એક પાઈ ભેગી કરીને ફોટોમાં દેખાય એવા સરસ ઘર બનાવ્યા. 

જો કે વચમાં એ થાકેલા ત્યારે સાત સાત હજારની નાની મદદ ફરી કરેલી. આ નાનેરી મદદ કરતી વેળા ફરી કહેલું, 

'ઘર પુરુ કરજો નહીં તો કોઈ આપણા પર ભરોષો નહીં કરે ને બીજા કોઈ ગરીબને મદદ નહીં મળે' 

બસ આ વાત એમણે બરાબર સમજી.. 

ત્રણ લાખ જેટલો ખર્ચ એક એક ઘરમાં એમણે કર્યો ને સરસ ઘર બનાવ્યા.બેણપ ગઈ ત્યારે હાથ પકડીને પોતાના ઘરમાં લઈ જઈને ઘર કેવા બનાવ્યા ને કેવા સજાવ્યા એ એમણે બતાવ્યું.. સાથે તમારુ મોન જાળવ્યું એવું પણ કહ્યું..

આ કાર્યમાં અમારા કાર્યકર ભગવાન આ પરિવારોને સતત પીઠબળ પૂરું પાડે માટેજ આ શક્ય બન્યું ..

આ બધા પરિવારોને પ્રેમ..

મદદ કરવાવાળાનો તો હંમેશાં આભાર હોય. પણ અમારી જીભાનની કિંમત આ પરિવારોએ બરાબર પાળી...

VSSM’s efforts result into allotment of plots to nomadic families in Tharad….

The current living conditions of nomadic families and the
happiness they experienced on hearing the decision.

“This is the moment we have been waiting for, a dream awaiting its turn to be a reality …we finally have plots to build our own house. How hard we have worked to make this happen, right ben?? We were completely heart broken when the officials decided against giving us land in Dantiya, we felt even in Tharad the officials will go against us. But our hard work paid and we finally have plots in Tharad.” The jubilant Ramabhai Gadaliya and Keshnath Nathwadi had called up to inform us about the government’s decision to allot plots to 149 nomadic families in Tharad. There was a palpable  cheer and joy in their voice.

In 2014, because of VSSM’s efforts these families were allotted plots in Tharad but due to some non-comprehendible reasons the decision was rejected. Again, after consistent appeals from VSSM, the families were given plots in Dantiya village some 35 kilometers away from Tharad. Here the villagers objected towards the permeant settlement of nomadic families and for these families a daily commune to Tharad where most of them worked was a difficult preposition.

However, the continued efforts of the families and VSSM were rewarded when the district collector Shri Jenu Devan and MLA Shri Parbatbhai Patel decided in favor of the families and allotted them plots in Tharad itself. VSSM’s Shardaben played in pivotal role here as it was her  hard works and relentless efforts that resulted into this decision.  

The families are extremely jubilant with this development. They would now be able to build house of their own. We are grateful to the government and administration for taking care of these families. 

Very soon they will commence the construction of their own houses to become the first generation of home owners in their communities….

થરાદમાં રહેતા વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા

‘વર્ષોથી રાહ જોતાતા એ સપનું પુરુ થ્યું. અમન ઘર બોંધવા પલોટ મળ્યા. કેવી મેનત કરી નઈ બેન. હાચુ કઉ દોંતિયામોં જમીનનો હુકમ થ્યો ન તાર તો બધાય હાવ નેરાશ થઈ જ્યા તા. હવ આ હુકમ નઈ ફરઅ ઈમ થઈ જ્યું તું. પણ બધાની મેનત રંગ લાઈ. અમન થરાદમોં જ પલોટ મળ્યા.’

રામાભાઈ ગાડલિયા અને કેશનાથ નાથવાદીએ પ્લોટ ફાળવાયાની ફોન પર વધામણી આપી. ઘર બાંધવા માટે જમીન મળ્યાનો રાજીપો તેમના અવાજમાં વર્તાતો હતો.

VSSMની રજૂઆતથી જ 2014માં તેમને થરાદમાં પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા હતા પણ કોઈક કારણસર તે રદ કર્યા અને તે પછી VSSMની સતત રજૂઆથી થરાદથી 35 કિ.મી.દૂર દાંતિયાગામમાં જમીન આપી. પણ ગામનો વિરોધ અને વળી 149 પરિવારોના કામ ધંધા થરાદમાં આમ રોજ દાંતિયાથી આવવું જવું પણ પોષાય નહીં. કલેક્ટર શ્રી જેનુ દેવન અને સ્થાનિક ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી પરબતભાઈ પટેલ પાસે સમુદાયના લોકોએ અને VSSMની સતત રજૂઆતથી થરાદમાં જ તેમને પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા. VSSMના કાર્યકર શારદાબહેન દિવસ રાત આ કામ માટે દોડ્યા છે. પણ આ બધુ હવે લેખે લાગ્યું.

પોતાના ઘરનું સ્વપ્ન હવે સાકાર થવાનું. આ પરિવારો ખુબ રાજી છે. સરકારે અને વહીવટીતંત્રએ આ પરિવારોની કાળજી લઈ તેમને પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા તે માટે તેમના આભારી છીએ...

હાલમાં આ પરિવારો જે રીતે રહે છે તે અને આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યાનો હુકમ થયો છે તે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે.

ભવિષ્યમાં આ પરિવારોના સુંદર ઘરો બનશે અને સૌ પોતાના અને પાકા ઘરવાળા થશે.....
